Default Are most tennis fans right wingers?

It seems to me, based on my personal experience of course, that they kind of are. Tennis is a fancy sport so it makes sense that the upper classes have greater access to play tennis and develop an early interest in the game. That would also account for the low diversity in it as well considering blacks are able to master most sports but are virtually absent (minus some exceptions) in professional tennis.

Overall, even though it was a lot worst in the past, tennis is still mostly a sport for upper class white people, and considering the upper classes have in general a tendency to the political right and libertarianism, whatever progress that is made is kind of low. Thus the image of tennis as an exclusive fancy and white sport is still very much alive to this day.

Discuss.

Of course. It is a white, right-wing, elitist sport. Any non-white, left winger should stay away from the sport and everything associated with it.

Tennis players, of course. Anyone that earns > $500,000 per year is bound to support low taxation.

On this forum? Not a chance. Maybe most of the fans that show up to tournaments are right-wing but impossible to generalize.

I am very liberal left, so count me out of the right wing scumbag club.

WTF?!?!

I'm white, but I vote for the Worker's Party here in Norway. I'm a proud social democrat. I don't see what my political view has to do with this sport. All people can enjoy tennis, whether they're left leaning, right leaning, or somewhere in the middle. The political aspect doesn't matter at all.

That said.. some tennis players do annoy me when they move away to avoid paying taxes. I think they have an obligation considering their home country payed for their success.. that's not a good way of paying back imo. That's why I don't have much respect for tennis players avoiding taxes, I've all the more respect for someone like Nadal, who still lives in Spain and pays taxes to Spain. Just my opinion!

I think it does tend to be a rich, conservative sport (certainly is where I am among older people- on the other hand my high school tennis team was all liberals, all but one atheists, but a part of that was them having been my friends who I made play for the most part) but I'd say this forum's members are left of center. That may be because heavy internet users tend to be younger and better educated (or perhaps just forums, in respect to the latter).

Please, just look at the thread starter.

When you said that you do not see what your political view has to do with this sport, you were just saying what I said, albeit in a more direct manner.

Most young and educated people go through a left wing phase. Then most grow up and become bread winners for their families. And find that concern for the "collective" does not interest them so much any more.

In the United States, the majority of tennis fans actually skew towards the left/liberal/Democratic side of things. They've done polling on which sports go which way, and tennis is one of the more left-leaning sports.

Not surprising the most Republican skewed sport in the USA is men's golf and the most Democratic skewed sport is women's basketball.

Democrats aren't even left-wing though. Even the Labour Party in the UK are further to the left than they are.
