Hmm, very interesting news, Doris. I wonder what kind of impact this will have on not only Micha's game, but the Swiss team this week.

Don't think it'll change much for DC. But who knows it only can get better!! At least I hope!!

Indeed, there won't be a huge change for DC (at least, not a big negative one) but it must feel weird having your second singles player wandering around, knowing he won't have a coach after this week.
As I believe Lee mentioned in the Ferrero forum, maybe it will do Michel good to have someone on court with him, coaching him during the match. Hopefully Mark can work his magic (please oh please oh please), or LOL they could get Roger to sit on court with him I think Roger could be a great motivator

Now HERE'S an interesting stat:
Kratochvil vs Sluiter
2000 -- Houston CH (Clay), SF -- Kratochvil 6-4, 7-5
2000 -- Charleroi CH (Carpet), R16 -- Kratochvil 6-2, 7-5
2001 -- Australian Open (Hard), R128 -- Kratochvil 6-2, 6-2, 7-6
I know Sluiter becomes a whole different beast in Davis Cup, but still,

The ladies are playing the Paris Indoors this week, and here's how they've fared so far:
Patty Schnyder (I guess she's the top-ranked Swiss woman right now?), seeded #5, was knocked out by Slovenian Tina Pisnik 6-3, 6-3.
Myriam Casanova saved two match points to scramble past Barbara Schett 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. She faces Serena in the next round

Ladies doubles: Schett/Schnyder (seeded #3) defeat Fusai/Tauziat 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the quarterfinals.

All right, ILR told me she saw an article about Michel splitting with his coach. Is this the same article you found, Doris? I used Google's translation service but other than a few good laughs, it's good for nothing
Kratochvil trennt sich von Coach Fersch

Kratochvil sucht neuen Trainer [Bild: Keystone]

the other swiss player who made the difference in today's DC match---Michel K.
he lost his temper there from some bad calls, Marc Rosset even had to pacify him, but when it was all over, he was very emotional (he had his back turned from the camera but he was prolly crying) and his mates carried him and he shyly acknowledged the supporters...
happy for him to finally win his first DC match!!!

Awww
*trying to picture Marc Rosset pacifying Michel* Hehehe. Good to know the fire was there. He was probably also on edge from the crowd (I hardly think they gave him an easy ride), but I'm so proud of him for keeping it together under tough conditions. I don't think I've ever been so proud of him
I really, really want this match, but chances are slim to zero that anybody will have it for me to buy.
This is his second DC win, his first live rubber (the only other match he won was a double bagel over a Belarussian player).

So it's his second DC win then?
Rosset was pushing Krati back to the court as he blew his top and approached the referee for a bad call. He served an ace which was called out. He also gave shit to a linesman...
He's gotta learn to control his temper. But he was really pumped up there on the 4th set and kudos to Marc Rosset for motivating him superbly. He was so proud of him at the end of the match!!!

Yes, he won the very first DC match he played, a dead rubber (in 1999 I think) when Switzerland drubbed Belarus 5-0.
Good on Rosset for keeping Michel in line, especially considering he has such a problem with that himself This is not the first time that I've heard Michel completely losing his head, and I suspect it won't be the last. I just hope whatever turned him around in this tie will help him on the weekly circuit.
And you guys can't tell me enough about this match! So keep it coming!

So RF inspired me to look for articles tonight, but instead I found something even better -- pictures! Pictures from Micha's last final in Tokyo. So of course I'm going to share them with you
Well, I guess they're from the whole week since there are lots of them. Let the linking begin!
