Canas is a tough nut to crack.. But Yevgeny needs this match, few precious points for CR to qualify for Masters. If he plays Marat in quarters, I don't even know who would need it more.

Zhenya got crushed, very convincingly. Similarly to US Open semis last year. Canas is through, Nalbandia is through. Our guys will have their hands fuill in DC in September.

The Masters Cup is slipping away... Looks like we will not get to see Zhenya in Shanghai.

I watched Kafelnikov play his first and second rounds - just a set of both.
And only the end of the Canas match ( I had heat illness).
I'm just happy I got to see him before he retired.
I got an excellent pic of him close up, I'll post it when i scan it in a few weeks.

Canas has got the potato jinx on him as well
as for the Davis Cup
Zhenya will only play Canas if its a LIVE 5th rubber as #1 plays #2 on day 1
and that will be Marat vs Canas by all looks of things
Marat will remain Russia #1 even after US Open
I just hope Canas doesn't get to #1 in ARG
that would be pretty bad ( still Zhenya has overcome his Hrbaty and Johansson jinxes in Davis Cup)

I will see him at the US Open I think too - I'm so glad they put him on court one, where I could sit wherever I want, and get decent pictures.
Sorry to ramble again, Im just to happy I got to see him before he retires!

Zhenya is playing his first round match at the US Open against Sanguinetti today (it's 2nd match on Armstong). Not an easy draw for him at all. If he wins that match he'l play either Ancic or Hrbaty, then probably Max, then maybe Roger (or even more likely Malisse) and in the quaters he has Andre |
