I have many, not one favourite, basically every album of the bands and artists I listed on the previous page is among them.

What is the most overrated song ever?

Well, I think a lot of modern pop music is overrated, but then again, "rating" songs is quite subjective.

Same question.

Yes, you are actually right. Personally, I never understood why Hotel California from the Eagles was such a big hit and why it is still populair. To me it's pretty average.

Do you speak your native language or other languages with an accent or a dialect?

I believe everybody speaks with somewhat of an accent, but for sure the French we speak in Quebec is not exactly "international" French, even if I see a trend towards standardization. Nobody can assume by mistake English is my first language, my accent is pretty thick, mostly because of the letter H.

Do you like Baklavas?

Depends, they're usually to sweet, so, no.

Is it true that Canadian French did not develop quite as much as le proper français i.e. you guys use, to some extent, dated vocabulary?

I do not think there is anything as le propre français since even in France there are different accents or patois.

There was some truth to that historically when New France was ceded to England. The Province of Quebec's way of talking, its vocabulary came from some regions of France and they did not evolve the same way as it did in France when francophone migration stopped. So people from France noticed that when coming in the province decades after the conquest.

When I was growing up, it bugged me that France would use expressions as faire du shopping or parking while we said magasiner and stationnement. Quebec has a tendency to create new words while France just borrows from English, courriel is widely used in Quebec (courrier électronique) while mail is used in France.

The main differences are in syntax. Quebec uses French words on an English syntax in some expressions because of the bilingual environment in some areas. The same applies somewhat to English speakers in Montreal, plus their vocabulary also include words like guichet (ATM) and dépanneur (convenience store) these days. They also know and use our swear words.

Was that too long of an answer?

#BigJohn
Probably the longest answer ever in this thread but a good read, thanks.
I was in Canada a few years ago but had a hard time understanding the gibberish or, maybe, I am just too used to the French spoken in France. And le propre français was meant as a mockery.

man purse is for man girls

What the hell is a sneaker sock? An ankle sock? I wear them all the time. I'll use the "but I'm a girl excuse." Not for guys like Mardy Fish

I hardly know any standup comedians, I don't find most of them funny at all.

What do you watch on tv?

I barely watch TV at all. Just the German version of "Who wants to be a millionaire", Tennis in case it is being broadcasted, a weekly info show and
I have to admit I started to follow a daily soap a few weeks ago but I maily have to watch it on the internet because I'm not at home when it is actually broadcasted on TV.

What would be harder for you to give up: TV, internet or your mobile phone?
