Richard was a break up in both sets but he is 2 sets down.

Richard is still in this match, if he breaks in the 3rd he needs to back it up with a service hold!!

Well done Gael.

I am far from favouring exaggerated patriotism in DC, but the German crowd is a shame. Almost outnumbered by the French, they were dead - from start to finish.

Llodra & Tsonga win 7-6 6-4 6-4 to put France 3-0 up which means they are through to the SF!!

Will they play the dead rubbers tomorrow?

Congrats to them, but I found the German doubles quite weak. The French did not need to do much, but Tsonga was solid and carried Llodra through his nervousness.

According to http://www.germany-france.de/news/de...lt-tsonga.html
Tsonga et Llodra tomorrow.

Forget picks Monfils, Tsonga, Simon and Gasquet for the Spain tie! No Llodra which is surprising as he is the best doubles player for France.

Most likely it will be Monfils and Tsonga for the singles and I like the Tsonga/Gasquet pairing better than the Simon/Gasquet but Simon and Gasquet did play together in Montreeal.

He picks actually 6 players Monfils Tsonga Simon Gasquet Llodra Benneteau.

The 4 best single ranked are the four in the official list but it will change. Forget says Gasquet has troubles with his elbow and Monfils with his knees. He adds that Llodra will surely enter and replace a single player.

Quote:

Monfils is OUT!

Quote:
Coupe Davis > Monfils forfait

Julien Boutter, former French Player, with 46 as his best ranking: I don't think that France has a chance.

Full article: http://www.rmcsport.fr/editorial/178...our-la-france/

What an encouraging comment for Richard, Gilles, Julien , Llodra and Tsonga who all did better than this Boutter- guy. I will never understand this approach, will now all former French players come out and say: France has no chance? It must really feel akward to have so much support.

Default Re: Dc 2011

Just saw on twitter that Nadal is ALREADY in Cordoba. That's like 17 hours after the last point of the match! he must have REALLY wanted to get the hell out of NYC and kick somebody's butt. I live about a 3 hour fight from NYC and probably couldn't have gotten home on any commercial airline as quick as Nadal got to Spain. He must have had his private jet waiting to wisk him away .

A pissed off, motivated Nadal is not good news for Team France - Nadal on clay in any form is not good news for Team France. I suspected that Nadal would not play the first day singles to rest/recover and get a chance to practice on clay but if he is already in Cordoba, he might.

Puschkin- don't think the comment by Boutter was that big a deal. First I'm sure he was asked about the team's chances and didn't just blurt out the comments but he was just speaking the truth and everyone knows it (O.K maybe he could have said 10%). He also did say that you never know what can happen in Davis Cup and secondly, the Freach Team are all big boys able to handle it and if anything would use this as a motivation instead of a discouragment.

Any news about who will play?

Before the day of final, L'Equipe the paper already said win or lose, the Spanish Federation has a jet ready to get Nadal out of NYC at midnight. So his leaving NYC so quickly has nothing to do with his loss. Their Federation is determined to get Nadal ready for the tie on friday.

This part from the paper, so probably went to press before the final began:
– J. Re.

This part is from the website after final:
