Robin would've prefered clay but didn't want to take the decision himself on what surface to play. He says it'll be tough going from Grass(Wimbledon) to hard(DC) to clay(Bastad) in three weeks and is not thrilled about it since he suffered an injury last DC match. He also says that he doesn't see a realistic chance to win DC without a second rubber worth mentioning, and if he had to withdraw from one event it would be DC. Pretty harsh words but it's spot on imo..

I kind of agree with him.

Maybe it sounds strange, but indoor clay would have been the perfect surface for the tie. You know, Robin serves way better indoors + the Serbs are all better on HC than on clay.
But anyway the Swedes have to hope that Nole won't be available for the tie, otherwise they have only a slim chance (Robin to win his 2 singles and then the doubles).
