Rosewall defeated Guan 6/2 6/2

Edwards defeated Rosewall 6/4 6/2

This was Ken Rosewall's last appearance in a competition, at age 47. Brett Edwards was barely 18, 39 years difference. In 1963, Rosewall won all Major Pros and Series, undoutedly World #1, the year Mr Edwards was born. In 1952, 30 years before this tournament, Rosewall qualified for the US now Open defeating Vic Seixas, on the day Jimmy Connors was born. In 1979, he could still beat Butch Walts World #49. In 1980, he retired from GP.

Borg's two Asian triumphs at the time he was semi-retired (played one main-level tournament each season in years 1982-84). He was so lazy that wanted to play only two-three matches within a week

Default Re: The Invitational Event Thread

Another fantastic one

Akai Gold Challenge Sydney : (5-7 November 1982)

Ivan Lendl vs John McEnroe 7-5 6-2 1-6 4-6 6-1
Bjorn Borg vs Vitas Gerulaitis 7-6 6-3 6-2
Bjorn Borg vs Ivan Lendl 6-1 6-4 6-2
Vitas Gerulaitis vs John McEnroe 6-4 5-7 6-4 6-3
Ivan Lendl vs Vitas Gerulaitis 7-5 6-3 6-4 (26 aces for Ivan)
Bjorn Borg vs John McEnroe 3-6 6-4 7-5 6-2

1) Borg 150000$ + golden racquet
2) Lendl 100000$
3) Gerulaitis 75000$ (replaced Connors in the draw.. imagine Lendl, Borg, Connors and McEnroe!!)
4) McEnroe 50000$
