Kukushkin def. Wawrinka 3-6 6-1 6-4 1-6 6-3

Kazakhstan 2-Switzerland 0

Switzerland I think are the favorites on paper to win the doubles, but I won't be surprised to see a 5-0 now. If Switzerland wins the doubles it likely will not matter, as I'm guessing Stan will play the doubles and he'll be tired and still injured, and Golubev will probably beat him. Then Kukushkin should beat Marco in the 5th rubber anyway.

Oh well, first Kazakhstan, next will be Ukraine, bank on that.

They do, but they aren't high. Marco isn't likely at all to win his match. I mean, they are relying on an injured played to win on a surface he doesn't like. They were always going to be in trouble. They are probably the slight favorites for the doubles, but even that is more 50-50 than anything else.

Yes, it will be very tough now for Switzerland. But I disgree a little with what you are saying...I think Wawrinka could actually be the weakest link. If Switzerland can keep the tie alive going into Sunday, Stan will need to beat Golubev...that will be very difficult if the leg is still bothering him a lot.

Chiudinelli is probably short of confidence but actually I think he is very capable of beating Kukushkin.

As for the doubles today, I think Wawrinka has to be rested...no point using an injured player when it is very possible that one of the others could play at a stronger level. Besides, Stan isn't a strong doubles player (regardless of Olympic gold). I have never seen Lammer play, but Chiudinelli could be useful. Whatever the decision, Allegro often has to be carried, so it will be tough to create a strong, unified doubles team. Kazakstan definitely in with a chance to finish this today...

Kazakhstan made 4 breaks. All were on Allegro's serve
Allegro didn't hold a game in this match

6-4 6-3 Golubev/Schukin i think this is done

Now I'm almost sure Fedex won't play n this division for Swiss in next year.

It's a shame for so good country in tennis to be so low in DC.

I don't understand what happened here , at this point Swiss should be 2-1 or 3-0 up, I expected Chiudinelli defeat Golubev but is not a surprise Andrey's win, but in Wawrinka's rubber and doubles Switzerland, in my opinion, was clearly favourite
