Apparently Guccione withdrew with an achiles tendon injury so it will be Kendrick in the final.
Which mean it's going to be Kei's title to lose!

Well, Kei is 2-0 in H-to-H against Kendrick, at Japan Open 2008 and at Sarasota this spring.
His win in Sarasota was particularly emphatic, it was 6-1 6-2. So if Kei is back to the level he was at in April, then I think he has nothing to worry about.
Still, every match is different... Kendrick is well rested and big servers can have their day.
Hope it will be Kei's day today. It will be a big booster for his chances at USO!

It depends on how other players are doing but I think he will be ranked around #145-#150 if he wins. If he loses in the final he will be around #160.

Looks like it's raining again in New York. 
According to the tournament Web site, matches have been moved to indoors. First the double final will start at 2 p.m. local time.
Don't know if I can stay up for the singles final though I'm going to watch the Toronto final now...

I wonder whether they played in indoors with spectators?
At Japan Open, many matches that were scheduled on roof-less outside courts were played at an indoor courts outside Tokyo when it rained a lot a few years ago, and the matches had to be played without the paid crowd, which I thought was awful.
Anyway, another good week and great preparations for USO qualies.
(Kei may sneak into MD as he is now alternate #6 after Karlovic and Ancic withdrew.)
