Re: Back on the clay in Båstad
i admit, i didn't watch the final. But i wasn't expecting this kind of score?! Can someone who watched it please tell me what happened? Was David just tired or did Robin really outplay him? (I am shocked, i really thought david would win this)

Re: Back on the clay in Båstad
Back in Hamburg
I am also still a little sad David lost the final yesterday and it was really not that much fun to sit there between all the Swedes cheering for Robin
But still, David played a great tournament and should be proud of what he achieved the last weeks. I am sure against Söderling in yesterdays shape many other players would have lost...
I am glad our chico gets some well-deserved rest now!

Re: Back on the clay in Båstad
All in all, I can't complain too much. For David to make the final after just having come off two Davis Cup match victories is pretty good. He must have been really tired. I was glad Juan Carlos won in Stuttgart. The two Valencian friends must be celebrating. Both achieved great things in the past couple of weeks of tennis.

Re: Back on the clay in Båstad
OK I am some time in replying to this thread...
but I have to agree with Edda & Iram: David has played A LOT of tennis recently and I am so glad he is not playing Hamburg.
I have to question why he plays Båstad (no offence to the tournament and it's directors), but apart from goodwill and practice, any points gained or lost here aren't really going to damage his ranking - it may be that he likes the location and the atmosphere, so OK then....

Re: Back on the clay in Båstad
I agree with you, Carol! David needed the rest! I wish Juanqui would have rested, too. He needs to get some rest before Umag.

Of course I am very glad David always plays Båstad, because I am going there every year and it´s the greatest tournament ever! But still, maybe ranking points wise there would be more interesting tournaments, but I think David likes the tournaments which are played in smaller towns, because everything is a little bit more relaxed. In every interview in Båstad he said how much he loves the place and how special it is for him to play there and I guess you automatically play good when you feel good
I think David knows exactly what is good for him and what isn´t. Before Wimbledon he had 2 weeks off, which was very good and after Wimbledon before the Davis Cup he also had like one week off. So then it was Davis Cup and Båstad, which of course was very stressy with the change of surface, jetlag, different climat and everything, but I am sure after these weeks off now he will be fine for the hardcourt season

Re: Back on the clay in Båstad
He's out for 3 weeks due to a broken finger (Montreal, Cincy)
Poor Ferru, hope he can come back as soon as possible

i read it too on his website. I really hope it heals soon. I figure not playing Montreal isn't too bad- he doesn't have that many points to defend from last year.
