Racquet help for a newbie, please...
So I'm starting tennis lessons next Saturday and I need to provide my own racquet. I went to a used sporting goods store today and bought a Wilson Jack Kramer Staff Racquet.
Anyone know if that is a decent racquet for a beginner? |

Jack Kramer played in the 1940's. Is that a wooden racquet you bought? I use Head Radical (agassi) myself which is good for power and control.

Actually, since I posted this thread, I've found these:
 Exact same racquet, including the grip size
 Similar racquet
 Similar racquet
The problem is, ebay listings are far from unbiased sources for information regarding the quality and value of the product being sold.
But that first link, that is the exact same racquet I bought today, but mine appears to be in better condition.

You can definately play tennis with this racquet, however these days it is kind of a collectors item. I'd see how it plays at your lesson, then decide what to do. Even though you are new to tennis you will most likely know if the racquet is hitting at least decently from the way it feels.

Cool. I was just hoping to find out that I didn't pay $55.00 for a $25.00 racquet. You know, that type of thing. My first mistake was not shopping around. I will probably still go look a couple of sports stores to compare and contrast.
I should probably hold onto this thing anyway, eh? If it's a collectors item now, it might really be worth something in the FUTURE!!
