Good luck Jojo. Kendrick is not a good draw for the first match, but if he gets going after that it seems a relatively clear path to 4th round.

Boodles day 2 update

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga got proceedings underway on the penultimate day of the Boodles Challenge with a terrific display of grass court tennis against the world number 35, Philipp Kohlschreiber.

The Frenchman was on great form against the German and his energetic baseline game proved decisive in the second set tie-break, eventually coming through 6-3, 7-6. It was a satisfying victory for Tsonga following the French national team's 2-0 loss to Mexico last night and added further insult to injury for the Germans in the wake of their 1-0 defeat to Serbia at lunchtime.

"I felt really comfortable on the grass today and I feel very good going into Wimbledon. I'm happy to be here at the Boodles Challenge to prepare my game for the next few weeks although my first round match against Robert Kendrick next week will be difficult."

So glad Jo got a couple of matches ahead of Wimbledon. He's right, Kendrick is going to be tricky. Hope Jo can pull through and win that.

Good luck Jo! Great to see him back looking strong. People think Kendrick will trouble him based on his past performances on grass (notably against Nadal in 2007), but as long as Jo remains focused, serves well, he'll be fine.
