Post Wimbledon clay season
His draw in Stuttgart:
[1] Nikolay Davydenko (RUS) bye
Daniel Gimeno-Traver (ESP) - Jeremy Chardy (FRA)
Qualifier - [WC] Bjorn Phau (GER)
Marco Chiudinelli (SUI) - [8] Victor Hanescu (ROU)
[3] Gael Monfils (FRA) bye
Qualifier - Qualifier
Qualifier - Guillermo Garcia-Lopez (ESP)
Florian Mayer (GER) - [6] Philipp Kohlschreiber (GER)
Tricky first round. At least he must be used to Mayer's weird game, they're training at the same place and are exactly the same age, so they must have played against each other a lot when they were young. He leads 2-1 in their h2h, but the last one was on retirement (in Miami).
No doubles.

Re: Post Wimbledon clay season
I always expect him to go far in those German events in particular, but he always does so badly in Stuttgart...
He blogs for tennisnet.com:
http://www.tennisnet.com/de-DE/Klart...schreiber.aspx
He says he feels well prepared.
His Stuttgart record is really poor, he has never been able to win two matches in a row there. No idea why, since he actually likes the event a lot.
His goal this year is to reach the QF at least. He has a bad h2h against Gaël if they play each other, but with the crowd on his side and Gaël coming from DC, he thinks he'd have a good chance this time.
He likes playing in Germany, there is more pressure, but each win feels twice as great then. He's also happy to have a few more events on clay because the hc season will be long enough.
Fed invited him to practice with him, he feels honoured and thinks it should help him a lot.

Re: Post Wimbledon clay season
6-4 *2-1 Mayer, and it could be worse, Philipp could have been broken a few more times.
Mayer is playing well, but some of Philipp's UE are just atrocious. It would so drive me nuts if I were him, I admire him for never smashing his racquet.

Re: Post Wimbledon clay season
He says that he's been feeling a bit sluggish the last couple of days, maybe because of the heat.
Mayer said he knows that Philipp doesn't like flat, fast shots, so that's exactly what he did.
The match is on www.tennislive.tv, but it would be a waste of time to watch it, really.

Re: Post Wimbledon clay season
He says on his website that he's been working a lot on his condition after Stuttgart.
He looks a bit lost lately, he badly needs to find a new coach and take a new start.
His draw in Hamburg:
(7) BELLUCCI, Thomaz BRA/BYE
QUALIFIER v GREUL, Simon GER
CHELA, Juan Ignacio ARG v STAKHOVSKY, Sergiy UKR
BYE/(10) KOHLSCHREIBER, Philipp GER
(16) BERRER, Michael GER/BYE
ROBERT, Stephane FRA v SEPPI, Andreas ITA
QUALIFIER v FOGNINI, Fabio ITA
BYE/(2) FERRER, David ESP
He plays doubles with Brunstrom.

With Ferrer out he has a good chance to go far. Hope he finds his form and does well here.
