It's from a list on SteveG's forums. Someone there gets information from the ATP player zone (not open to the public). Hewitt is on the list of withdrawls, as is Roddick.
Federer has not withdrawn according to that list as of last night US time, but he's doing a planned sponsor/media day today, so if he's not playing I'd expect him to announce it this afternoon. Personally I'd be a bit surprised if he DOESN'T play, but that's my sentiments only and not based on any inside info.
Last year the main draw was not out until Sunday. No official news on when it will be this year, I'm expecting the same time-frame.

Roger doesn't need to play Madrid if he doesn't want to. He's got enough points and no one can catch him. Anyway, he's hasn't withdrawn yet. Wonder what's up with Hewitt?
|
Fee, I posted a message about Hewitt over in GM, but because I like you I'll repeat it. He said after the US Open that he was playing only a light schedule since he had already qualified for Houston and listed Paris and Tokyo as his only definites. There was an newspaper article a few days ago saying he was in north Australia, on vacation with a buddy and going game-fishing.
