Dammit, was so sure he'd done it after breaking to go 2-1 up in the decider.

Definitely is a confidence issue. You can see it in the way he's playing compared to the SA swing but more importantly, you can see it in the mental aspect of his game.
He was so good at converting/saving break points and serving out sets during that month, and he himself spoke about how he'd worked hard on the mental part of his game in the off season.
As for yesterday and parts of the Riba match, he seemed to get really tight in important moments. Might just be the added pressure of RG and the fact that he hasn't done well here in a long time though.

Anyway on to his "favourite" surface now; shame he's not coming to Queens again as i enjoyed watching him there last year, but if he can replicate his '09 grass results all will be forgiven!

Yeah I did. I think.

But I thought you were talking about his last match
He also cursed a while ago in an interview. Transcript one, but still. "Joder" if I'm not mistaking.

I know Roger Federer got fined for saying a bad word at the U.S. Open final last year.

Even cursing words can be music to my ears if uttered by JC!

Good analysis, fisico,
I also thinkk his preparations were not enough because of the knee injury. In South America, I think he felt he was well-prepared for the task, whereas in RG, maybe not so.

Ginepri's just leveled the set count vs Djkovic 1-1. So his surprisingly good form is continuing. I really wish JC could havd stopped him because Djoko looks like he's far from his best so far.

One positive for JC is that his ranking next week is likely to go up, probably to #16 (unless Almagro, Bellucci or Melzer reach SF). He has loads of points to defend at Wimbledon so I hope he will have a good use of this week to physically and mentally prepare himself well for the grass season.

2-1 in sets for Nolé now.

I really hope he will be on fire again at the grass tournaments, he is not gonna play Queens right?
Is there any tournie he will play before Wimby?

Halle is literally just a warm-up exhibition for him. He can't gain any ranking points. Don't know if that will help or make things worse. He'll be less nervous but also less motivated.

The slams (especially Wimbledon) are all that count for me.

it's important to get matches in if there is a shift in surfaces. also its a matter of motivation too, i don't think anyone is all that confident if they go into a grandslam without a few actual competition matches done.
