Edit: didn't read your las post. Sorry

Brizzi dind't play. Naso entered as LL so that game won't count for TT.

There is talking about another possible LL if Lorenzi finally pulls out of the tournament.

It's because your time changes from UTC -5 to UTC -4 in summer while Rome changes from UTC +1 to UTC +2 but CET is always UTC +1...
Anyway I didn't blame you for the OOP. It's obvious that you are also not aware of the time change in both Rome and your zone. Fortunately your time changes along with Rome, but that can mislead players from countries which don't use summer time.

That's the thing, even players from other countries (like Argentina, for example) tend to know what CET means, that Europe has switched to Summer time. It happens every year to all the European countries, I think it's a simple enough fact.

Even people know Europe switch to summer time, it would still be regarded that Europe switch from CET to CEST, but CET is still UTC +1, so CET is obviously not suitable to be used to mean CEST(UTC +2) in TT deadlines.

For example, in the post #279 in this thread:
http://www.menstennisforums.com/show...159042&page=16

The Argentina manager used "Deadline: 10.00 AM local time, 5.00 AM Buenos Aires, 9.00 AM C.E.T.".
The challenger was held in Napoli, Italy. And the date was March 30th, when Italy already switched to the summer time. Obviously, "CET" in this post means UTC +1.

And troubles can also happen even for the non-European people who think CET mean UTC+2 in summer. For example, Canada starts to use summer time on March 14th this year, but Italy on March 28th. So it's not corrent said by ibreak4coffee that Italy is always ahead of Canada by 6 hours. Actually it's 5 hours from March 14th to 27th. And the same happens when different countries switch from summer time to winter time. As a result, that can make confusion for many people twice in a year.

sorry for the confusion Shi feng, but I think I have to agree with the crowd here, Yes technically CET is UTC+1, but the thing is you sent you picks after play had started so they're late. Yes maybe the deadline was posted in error, and maybe your picks were in fact before the posted deadline but play was started. If you really care that much, next time check the official OOP and see what time play starts your time and make sure to have your picks in before then. The OOP was posted was before the deadline so you had lots of time to get your picks in before the 1 Hour confusion time, it's not a big deal, it's only a 90 point challenger anyway

Yes, actually I'm really not too emotional for the accident. Anyway it's just a 90 point challenger and I don't expect my picks to count. I just started a discussion here and in the rule thread to remind people of correctly using CET/CEST or any other time format to avoid any future mistake caused by confusing deadlines in this event and others (and in the official TT rule thread). It's not good for the game if some people insist on using CET as UTC +2 while other people understand and use it according to the official definition. It's OK if people can be aware of that before it causes bigger troubles in Grand Slams.
And thanks for this accident. I learned a lot of knowledge about the time in various parts in the world. It can probably benefit me sometime in the future.
