Default A request to the people who operate this site:

I know that we're only the end-users, and as such, are about as important in the grand scheme of things as bacterial scum on a sink-plug, but I would like to respectfully request that, in future, when site maintenance needs to be carried out, the following things happen:

1) Notify the end users in advance. Since, I would hope, these works are scheduled to happen, there's no reason at all why the users cannot be notified in advance and be aware that the interruption to service is coming.

2) If not notify the end users in advance, at least notify the admins and mods in advance so THEY can notify the end users. The fact that even they have no idea when the site will be down is just ludicrous.

3) If you must take the site down, some more useful information about when the site will be back up would be useful - I don't know about you, but "shortly" is not particularly descriptive, and I'd struggle to call a 4 hour + downtime as "shortly". More regular and informative status updates on the load screen would be nice.

4) If possible, avoid scheduling downtime during big tournaments - okay so Indian Wells isn't a slam but it's still one of the biggest tour events of the year, and we've just come off a period of very low amounts of tennis, so why wasn't this work completed during that period?

5) Perhaps, just perhaps, bear in mind that the people who use this site are doing so because they expect a service, a service that some of us actually paid for in subscription fees, and that this lazy and careless disregard for them achieves nothing except pissing off the userbase, which is to nobody's benefit whatsoever.

Thank you and have a good day.

Just the same as when TennisForums moved servers a few days ago. Site is now riddled with problems. Expect nothing but database errors for the next couple of days. Why change something that isn't broken?

Would you mind to comment scoobs's post?. Maybe he sounds a bit harsh, but he's right. A simple e-mail to all users would be a good start

Doesn't have to be email - PM would work too.

About everything else scoobs said - 100% agreed

I agree with Scoobs as well....

It would be a good thing if the posters were clearly notified somehow and if that's not possible, post something in the moderator forum so at least WE know...

Personally Im getting a bit sick of people sending me pm's every 2 seconds or emailing me or whatever asking me what's going on and when it will be fixed..... and Im just as clueless as they are....

If MTF is down, you won't see any PM.
Can anyone explain me how MTF runs. Is it an oracle database?

If they send us a PM before they take the forum down, (for example 2 days before they have scheduled it) then there is enough time to get "mentally prepared" for it.

^^ This I am a Premium Member, and because I'm not allowed to access this site from work, the downtime has meant I've had pretty much no access at all here for over 48 hours now, with no warning. It's simply not good enough when people have paid.

Agree.

The utter lack of respect or even minimal consideration toward the users of this site is unbelievable.

I would like to commend the MTF admins. for deciding to move everything to a new server in the middle of a masters and not in the preceding weeks when there weren't any major tennis tournaments being played. That was really well thought out.
