Ended up losing the final in straight but still a good two weeks for him. Plays in the Polish 10k this coming week and then another 15k the week after in Poland again. Potential to have a very very good month in Poland considering he has already gained 33 points in two weeks. He is now going to move into the top 500 so he should have a good chance of getting seeded in some futures events after this week. Between now and the end of November he has just two points to defend in September so he could really make something happen if he continues this form.
Perhaps TA were right when they were saying he'll be playing RG qualies next year. He seems to be quite talented on the red dirt.
And he says his best on the grass. So great results.
Duckie currently ranked 631, with 30 points; defending 0 pts this week; 18 pts gained for winning $10k Futures last week, will go to 48 pts + 15 pts gained from finalist in $15k Futures this week, will go to 63 pts(from 14 tournament, he should go to about 480-485 in ranking. (After Roland Garros).
Great reult for James beaing Janowizc. Unkucky Duckie could not get the win in the final.
Even though he is in a purple patch and playing well James should considering missing one of these Futures events, as hard as it is to contemplate now, to give his body a rest. If you lose 2nd or 3rd round then it is ok to play every week, but playing 5 matches a week when making the finals every week takes a lot out of a player mentally as well as physically.
Yeah - I thought that would be the best for Duckworth this week.
Duckworth passes the test and forges a fighting 64 16 76(5) win over No.5 seed Chvojka, so keeps his hot streak going.
Hope it continues, he is doing the right thing and getting good results at his level of competence at the moment. Good experience.
Duckie plays No.1 seed Slovakian Pavol Cervenek, ranked 264 in QF round. A tough test, should be interesting.
Duckworth rises to the occasion and show his fighting qualities in a 63, 36, 63 win over the No.1 seed. Plays Gregorz Panfil next in the semis. Duckie beat Panfils recently in straight sets, so will be confident.
James into another final this week and is going to face an unseeded German Peter Torebko. 3 finals in 4 weeks is very impressive especially when you take into account he didn't play last week so three finals in a row. Duckie will move to around 438 if he loses the final and around 408 if he wins. Would obviously be a massive win for him if he could do it, I'm hoping he stays on the European clay for a couple more weeks because he seems to be playing really well but I haven't seen him on any recent entry lists.
If he does win he'll overtake Ben Mitchell and become our second highest ranked '92 player.
