Simon Beats Gasquet in All-French Opener
In first-round action at the BMW Tennis Championship, Gilles Simon (FRA) played near perfect tennis to beat countryman Richard Gasquet (FRA) in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
Simon's victory marked the first time that he has beaten Gasquet in five career head-to-head meetings.
Simon broke Gasquet’s serve in the third game of the first set, and this one break was all Simon needed as he took the set, 6-4.
In the second set, Gasquet, playing in his first BMW Tennis Championship, broke Simon and jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Simon dug in to hold his serve in the fourth game while breaking Gasquet twice to even the score at 3-3. Throughout the match, the two Frenchmen played nearly flawlessly, making few unforced errors, instead forcing the other to earn each point by brilliant play. Simon broke Gasquet once more in the seventh game and held on to win the second set, 6-4, and take the match.
Gasquet’s game is so technically complete, he’s been called the “Baby Federer.” But Simon matched his opponent in technical perfection, giving up few cheap points and capturing the match with balletic overhead smashes, exquisitely placed down-the-line groundstrokes and sharp putaway volleys.
The second-seeded Simon, who is making his third appearance in the tournament, advances to the second round, where he will meet Potito Starace (ITA). Starace defeated Harel Levy (ISR) 6-2, 6-3.

That person is either the biggest liar going or was in the pub instead of watching the match
I love them both but I'm not completely deluded.

Just noticed this as well - 3-0, Gillou held serve to make it 3-1 and then broke Richie TWICE to go 3-3

maybe they were completely mesmerised by Gilles's eyes and lost track of the match. That is the only other possibility.
I wish I had rose tinted glasses about anything. I'm a realist to the point of pessimist I think

Maybe he had "stuff" going on that you couldn't see from the livestream
I know that would distract me

Re: Allez Gillou! - *testing my luck for IW & Miami*
He is a sweetheart. He can't even give a smile for his first win, maybe because it's a friend he just beat, or it's just R1 in a challenger, or he wasn't happy with his game... He has bigger smile when he lost to his friends. (but then, he almost cry when he beat Gael last year , no wonder he always lost to his fellow Frenchies )

Or that Amy Roth is actually Tulasne's pen-name. The balletic overhead bit is hardcore tulasnesque.
