Default Are most of the ATP tournaments going to finish on hard or carpet tournaments=?

The Acapulco tournament is planning to change the surface from clay to hard courts the following year. The Director of the ATP of Buenos Aires is thinking to do the same. That would be the end of the clay court Latinamerican swing. The amount of clay court tournaments is declining drastically as it happened with grass court tournaments in the past. So pro tennis is turning on a game with most of the players that almost play the same sort of game with no important differences on their styles. If the intention of the ATP is to follow this tendency is ok but one of the most interesting points of this sport is that tennis is so different (at least is used to be not many years ago) among players that do it on different surfaces. Don`t you think that is time to return to the old format of tennis with a stable balance between clay, grass, hard and carpet tournaments? I would like to hear your opinions.

They aren't going to get any better fields.

The South American clay court season was kind of bad positioned anyway. In between the AO and the mini American slow hard court season with Miami and IW...

Something had to give.

That said, if Buenos Aires and Acapulco change indeed, I wonder how long is going to take for Santiago and Costa du Sauipe to feel the pressure? If they stay the way they are, they are going to be even more MM than they currently are.

Tennis has no blood passport system, and does basically no out of competition testing.

The methods and drugs used by Armstrong in 1999 would work in tennis right now, with zero chance of being caught (not slightly surprising to anyone familiar with the topic, btw).

South American season is at the right time. When they had it at the end of the year it was crap and at that time of year, even harder to get players.

Haven't heard this argument before, but I'd be all for it.

Maybe IW on hard and Miami on clay.

As slow as IW plays it might as well be clay.

They can still play like clay-courters on hard courts. Taking tennis to previously unkown galaxies of muginess.

I concur. There should be a balance between the surfaces. I can't understand why the players don't react more than they do.

that would make 5 clay 1000 events within a span of 10 weeks. One shoudl switch to clay and be moved on the schedule and one should make the switch the grass.
