Titles on all inhabited continents?
I remember last year that Tiger finally managed to win a title on every continent except Antarctica of course. Has anyone done it in tennis? I'm guessing maybe a few.

Re: Titles on all inhabited continents?
Yes on Vilas and Laver. I don't think Connors ever won a title in South America. Mexico and the Caribbean are part of North America.

I'm sorry to hear that. You have my condolences. I hope you find another school soon.

That's not an unanimity actually. Caribbean countries can also be qualified as part of Central America, that's the way I learned it.

Re: Titles on all inhabited continents?
Yes and Central America is part of North America. Any titles in or to the east of Colombia if we actually have to discuss what South America is.
I'm actually type of outs these six regions of the world so we don't have a 10 page argument on the definition of continent.
- North America
- South America
- Europe
- Africa
- Asia
- Australia

Connors won an invitational or exo event in Asuncion, Paraguay. That's all I've seen from him in South America.

Re: Titles on all inhabited continents?
Agassi, Schalken and Canas all won on five continents more recently, in fact Agassi's first career title and Schalken's last were both on hardcourts in Brazil, sixteen years apart. They both missed one in Africa, Canas one in Australasia.

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.
Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?
ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Guillermo Vilas in the same year (1977), the only player to achieve such a feat.

Re: Titles on all inhabited continents?
Tsonga stands a reasonable chance of getting five, given that he's already got titles in Asia and Africa, but South America is unlikely considering his preferred surfaces.
If Ferrer were to somehow hit a rich vein of form in the next few weeks and win both Jo'burg and one of the SA events he'd have five too, but that's just as unlikely.

Re: Titles on all inhabited continents?
So Laver and Vilas are the only two who managed it on all six?

Re: Titles on all inhabited continents?
Fernando Gonzales has them all but Africa. No reason he couldn't pick off Casablanca or Johannesburg should he choose to play.
