Must have no sense of humour at all. As it was, just about the only publicity Avatar got on the show was thanks to Stiller.

Read that they didn't forget, they had a time limit. But Jacko never made a movie and Fawcett and Arthurs did, so I think somebody goofed.

Default Re: Oscars 2010

I had seen only these of the nominated BP candidates and this is how I would rank them:

1- The Hurt Locker. Ahead by a mile on every other movie, no contest.

2- Precious. Deserved Oscar for Mo'nique, great acting wall to wall, kind of a gift for screenplay.

3- Up in the Air. Clooney is always great, Reitman now confirmed as a great director.

4- District 9. Over hyped. Not the movie's fault.

5- The Blind Side. Say what you want, Bullock was great. That is one fearless actress, much like Clooney is, she almost always delivers. Nice story too, bad casting for the little brother.

6- Inglourious Basterds. A weak offering from Tarantino. Even Pitt could not salvage.

7- Avatar: The least deserving BP nominee in a long long time. An unoriginal story for kids badly watered down, ridiculous dialogues. Anybody but Cameron would have handed in those supremely corny and idiotic lines and they would have been rewritten. Remove the 3-D and you are left with a huge dose of stupid.

If Avatar was a beauty pageant contestant, it would be this one

But Star Trek should have made the list. It was a really well done reboot with a great story, a superb cast and it was over in a flash. Make old Spock reappear in a different way than that stupid cave trick and it would be almost perfect for the genre.

And why is that? You didn't like to see a technologically advanced race exploiting another less technological one, ecologic problems or the ruthless means corporations use to achieve what they want and to make more money? What exactly did you despise about this movie? I'm far more worried about the ecological problems and the cutting of the rain forests than about American war heroes or the **** of a teenage girl.

Why should he allow that? Cameron has said many times that the movie is special to him. Why should he allow some tasteless people describing themselves as comedians to mock it?

Avatar has more audience than all the rest of the nominees+winner combined. I think they can't even make half of the Avatar's audience.
Keep hating on the movie but like it or not it will remain in the movies history it has broken a lot of records and every big film that comes out will be compared to it. The rest of this year's nominees including the winner will be forgotten like every other average movie. Because there is nothing big about any of them to remember.

It is patently clear that you judge a movie by its political message and have no interest in how well made it is. The Academy voters are supposed to vote on quality, not box office and political correctness. Those are just your criteria.

You mock corporations for making money but are perfectly happy with people like Cameron deliberately making a movie to pick the pockets of everyone who wants to think of themselves as morally superior.

And as for thinking Cameron should be allowed to censor free speech, the Academy should be ashamed. If all the nominees thought like Cameron there would have been no show. Remember he said when he won for Titanic, ''I am the king of the world.'' Obviously you bought that.
By your rules the big corporations you hate should have been able to ban the movie on the basis that some tasteless movie maker wanted to make fun of them. Sounds ridiculous when you act fairly and apply the rule to everyone, doesn't it?

I either speak a language you don't understand or you are reading but not comprehending. As of Avatar if you think Cameron made a mockery out of the ruthless company you haven't understand anything from the movie. As of the free speech yeah, let's allow anyone to make a mockery out of anything even of an entire nation who cares they have the right of the free speech, yes. Maybe you haven't ever created anything putting all your heart into it, being proud of your work and your achievement. If you have you wouldn't allow anyone making fun of it. But since you haven't...
As for the "political correctness" don't make me laugh. The part in bold stunned me the most considering they gave an Oscar to the politically correct movie for God's sake what are you now talking about.
P.S. Avatar at least was beautiful

Where do you live? Free speech seems to be something you are afraid of. Quoting: ''you wouldn't allow anyone making fun of it''. I guess you do speak a language I don't understand. Where in the world does a common citizen have the power to restrict the actions of everyone else?

What was politically correct about the Hurt Locker? I did not care for the movie, but most people that reviewed it noticed that it made no political statement on the pros or cons of the war. Maybe you saw something the reviewer's didn't. Enlighten us.

Yes it looks that way and you are not even trying to understand what I am saying what you are doing is called a monolog

It is a monologue only in that you won't participate in a dialogue. Where do you live and do you believe private citizens have the right to muzzle the opinions of others? I asked those questions in an effort to understand what you are saying. But you don't want to answer.

I do not need to see Avatar to know what its political message is. There have been more than enough words written on that. I have not given an opinion on its worth as a piece of entertainment because that would be a personal opinion and I would need to see it first.
