Do you think its good idea to have 10 nominees for Best Picture @ Oscars?
I am undecided, I think it will thin the voting out so will make things more interesting as in who will walk away with the gold man, but it is makes the nominees lose exclusivity How about you?
Not really, no. I mean it's a nice recognition to 5 more movies, but in my opinion it's just too many. It would make a bit more sense if they announce the top3, but I have no idea if they will.
It would be even worse though with ten nominees in the actor categories. Just imagine the moment when they announce the winner and they show all the reactions in those 5 little windows, 10 of them wouldnt even fit on the screen

yea and having 9 of them, looking like they have just been slapped in the face with a wet fish, would not be comfortable viewing
It will be interesting to see how the handle the 10 thing, but i don't think its necessary.
They should have tennis oscars.....oh wait they kinda do, nvm.
Armstrong says in-competition testing will never catch anyone, only out-of-competition testing and the blood passport can.
Tennis has no blood passport system, and does basically no out of competition testing.
The methods and drugs used by Armstrong in 1999 would work in tennis right now, with zero chance of being caught (not slightly surprising to anyone familiar with the topic, btw).

oh the haters again Yes I do like them as I think it's a great way to appreciate not only the best actors of the last 12 months, but also make-up-artists, script writers etc. And give back to them for the pleasure they gave to millions of people thanks to their talent. Without these kinds of awards they wouldn't have the possibility to do what they want to make a living as winning (or even being nominated) means a massive boost in popularity.
If you don't like the glamour around it, the big buffets, the expensive dresses etc. well... waste comes with wealth (just look at all kinds of athletes making millions), like it or not, but it's always like that.
So, next time you enter a cinema think about your ticket to support the industry and everything related to it and tear it. Stay out. Out of the cinema and this thread.
me too,that's why i'm laughing at oscar.it's not bear,lion,s.sebastian,karlovy v. award,just fashion circus.go to sundance to see real movies.
Admittedly I want to see actors make fools of themselves at the Oscars.
Of course it is entertainment, not something terribly serious like Cannes, where are awards are doled out for being politically correct, never mind the quality.
I like all types of movies (except Avatar, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars type crap), but I don't think limiting myself to indies would make me feel superior.
