Lemke reached the final of the Futures in France this week. Good work
Yeah very good result for him, he will enter the top 300 next week with this result and should start to get entry into some weaker challengers around europe. I'm not sure where he is going to play next but hopefully it is a challenger or atp qualifying.
15k Clay Future - Appiano (ITA)
James LEMKE (AUS) (8) defeated Paolo BENINCA (ITA) (1424) 6-2 6-1
James LEMKE (AUS) (8) defeated Luca VANNI (ITA) (559) 6-4 7-6(3)
In the Quarters he plays Bachinger who has been in poor form for most of they year but has recorded a couple of decent results in the past three months and comfortably beat the second seed Haider-Maurer 62 61 in the second round.
10K Clay Future - St Poelten (Austria)
James LEMKE (AUS) (1) defeated Jeremy JAHN (GER) (928) 6-1 1-6 6-2
James LEMKE (AUS) (1) defeated Marc RATH (AUT) (836) 6-3 7-5
James LEMKE (AUS) (1) Vs Roman VOGELI (CZE) (659) (7)
James beat Vogeli 64 63 two months ago on the German clay. Hopefully James can win as he has good hopes of doing very well here with Vogeli and the 4th seed Reisseig being the only seeds that remain in the draw.
Good stuff there in Austria, also James has direct entry into a challenger in Switzerland next week so hopefully he does well there too. Hopefully James stops playing futures soon and sticks exclusively to the challenger circuit.
Won his second round against fellow Aussie Clint Thomson 75 76(4). He now plays Daniel Smethurst in the Quarters. Last time they played in March on the hardcourts in Great Britain, James won in three sets but the month before that on the clay in Spain Smethurst beat James in straight sets. Smethurst's recent form hasn't been that great though but in a sign thqat it could be on the improve he made the Quarters by defeating Mina in three sets.
James lost in the first round of a Dutch challenger to Christophe Rochus 61 60. James' first serve percentage was only at 47% and had 5 double faults. Hopefully he can put in an improved performance next time.
