Damn he can hit so hard, and so cleanly when he wants to... It looks like he feels like it today.

Si, si, il y est :
Margaret Court Arena

11:00 Start
Women's Singles - 1st Round
Shenay Perry(USA) vs. Ana Ivanovic(SRB)[20]

Men's Singles - 1st Round
Matthew Ebden(AUS) leads Gael Monfils(FRA)[12]

To Finish 2-2

He should begin around 12:30 if Ivanovic doesn't mess around as she likes too, so about 1am for us ?

I got to catch 25% of his on court time today >_>

Will probably miss the rest of the match, 3am isn't really an option at the moment (well, not till the second week perhaps =p). Hope he wins comfortably

6/4, 6/4, 6/4, he says he's been taking anti-inflammatories for his shoulder for one week, but it doesn't bother him much. With the wind nobody is serving very hard anyway, more around 180-190 km/h, and it's not a problem so far.

Veic now, 4th match on MCA after 3 WTA matches.

A model of consistency. Monf has won six consecutive sets 6-4. I wouldn't bet on that being a record, though.

Gaël should actually win 6-2 6-2 6-2 against the likes of Veic, who was trying hard, but really has nothing to hurt him.
He was in S&V mood today! Not as spectacular as against Wawrinka, but still. He played S&V on 2/3 of the points in the last service game, for example.
The start was atrocious, 4-1 down in the first set, but then he got his act together and his game was looking great when he bothered to focus.

Isner now. :-/

I tried to wake up for the match today, but succeeded only in waking up shortly after it finished. Anyway, another good win for Gael it seems.

I honestly don't think Isner will cause him too many problems, perhaps because I really don't rate Isner as being that good, but I just see Gael coming out on top pretty easily.

You didn't miss much, it really was just for diehard fans. I liked what he showed when he bothered to try, but he took it very easy most of the time.
He says those have been his easiest first rounds ever in a Slam, the first one was a bit tougher, but this time he really knew that Veic had no dangerous weapon.
He's quite mad at the change of draw! He definitely would have preferred Ferrer.

Well, he had the easiest draw of the whole field, it helps.

I just read the article on lequipe.fr, he's definitely exaggerating when he talks about the marks he would give himself for the match! I know he's joking, but still. He says Rasheed would probably give him 2/20, he'd say 5/20 and 10/20 for the first round.
http://www.lequipe.fr/Tennis/breves2...-maitrise.html
The first set, yes, it was some of the worst tennis I've seen him play in a while, but if that one deserves a 5/20, I'm lost at words to describe many of his matches.
I'd give him a 12 or 13.
