My vote is for these numbers: 5 singles titles and 6 doubles titles,

I think it`s say all, it´s the same to say H.Zeballos was far the best player.

Brgs!!

Too many dutch members who closely follow CH events, the majority events Zeballos won in Southamerica where micky mouse Chalengers with awful competition, he should have been man enough and came to Europe to prove how good he is....

In previous years there was a clear South American bias. But it's fear to say that many Dutchies are blinded by nationality. That having been said, I am actually myself considering voting for him over Zeballos, because I think many of the events Zeballos won were extremely weak. It'd be interesting to calculate the average ranking of the opponents he came across and compare them with the others. I am sure that figure will be quite a bit lower. Nonetheless, at the end of the year he did show that he is able to beat some top players.

Becker at zero? What the hell? I expected him to win this title. And writing this I'm not actually a fan of him.

Obviously it's Zeballos. Jumping from 200-50 playing exclusively challengers is something that is rarely seen, must less something that can be done. I want to vote for Russel and Baghdatis for Zeba's resume is just too good. De Bakker & Dolgo & Becker have been amazing on the challenger tour this year also. Great candidates up there, but pretty easy vote for me.

I think the late Mathieu Montcourt deserves an "other" most notable request

Default Re: The 2009 Challenger Player of the Year [Vote Now]

I have no opinion about the „Challenger Player of the year“.
The challenger tournaments are overpointed, winning 75-90 points for a victory is a joke, so it is logical that such players like Zeballos have such a high ranking. In my eyes, he is a coward and I hope that he will fall down next year. He has only won just a few matches against Top 100 players and is now Top 50, this should be forbidden by the ATP by reducing the points for these tournaments.
It is logical that other players who had courage and took part in Word Tour tournaments cannot have such a summary at the end of year though they are maybe players with a lot more of potential. Therefore this „titel“ is not significant for me.

Definitely CH player of the year for me is Horatio Zeballos. Some other players show us their potential but for year 2009 Horatio is "The King" of ATP Challenger Tour. Thiemo was also great this year but Zeballos is first. Hope that he will continue in this direction...
