That tournament is like 4 months old. His recent futures win is more impressive anyways.

An article on Sock:

http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/story/1372461.html

It sounds like he's becoming more open to the possibility of forgoing college, although it still seems that he's planning to play high school tennis. I feel sorry for his high school opponents.

Today at the Orange Bowl he beat the #2 seed from France, who was a semifinalist at the U.S. Open.

Sock lost to another American, Mitchell Frank, in the quarters of the Orange Bowl. Frank is one of the hottest juniors on the circuit, but it's still a disappointing loss I'd say. He could have won this tournament. Frank, from all descriptions, is the ultimate grinder who thrives on frustrating opponents with his consistency and patience, and it sounds like that's what happened today.

Taylor Dent posted this on his Facebook page last week:

"Hitting some with jack sock tomorrow. He is a very very good American junior. He has a chance to be a great player, I hope luck is with him"

That's an encouraging assessment from someone who knows what it takes to succeed professionally.

After Jack's futures win he had a couple really tough draws in his next couple futures.
he lost to Scoville Jenkins 4-6 7-5 3-6 and Victor Estrella 2-6 6-2 6-1.
Tough losses, but good efforts nonetheless.

Now he is in the qualies at Delray Beach. He got the qualifying wildcard for winning the 18s National Claycourts. Unfortunately this is the first year where the winner of nationals didn't get a MD wildcard to Delray Beach. Oh well, anyway, he drew fellow wildcard Olivier Sajous in the first round. Sajous is a good college player, but all things considered it is obviously a very good first round draw. Good luck Jack

Oh, and on a side note Jack is gonna be a practice partner at the Davis Cup tie in Serbia.

what seemed 2b a dissappointing start when Jack lost early in the Delray qualies ended up being quite the contrary as we got 2c alot of him since he was taken under the wing of many American stars in the days 2 follow...glad he stayed around as we got 2 watch him warm up on numerous occasions with Taylor Dent, James Blake, John McEnroe amoung others including Bob & Mike Bryan who seem 2 have temporarily adopted the the youngster both on & off the court!!...hope 2c Jack again next year!!!!

Shame Jack lost to Sajous but he's been getting some good practice in with some top-10 players and GOATs and now he's got a WC into Miami Qualies where he plays Marcos Daniel. All things considered, a fair draw. Good luck Jack

Big day for Jack tomorrow, he plays Marco Chiudinelli in his first round match at the US Open. It's on a streamed court too

Good luck Jack
