Only the second time that I've seen him play (first was against Luczak in the WC playoff). Once again, I liked what I saw. If he can improve the second serve then he could get some good results on grass. He won at least one new fan today
Thought Matt would have been blown off the court but good on him for keeping it close. He only had one break point chance which Rafa saved but Rafa only had 3 and Ebden saved one so only one break in each set is a good result against the number one player in the world.

If Matt had won 4 rounds at Nottingham, he would have he would have made semis and got 35 points, but 2,000 less Euros. Seems a bit skewed the points/money. Never enough money at the lower levels. But that is hindsight. And at Queens he got to play against Nadal!
Matt on court at Roehampton, up against Simon Greul. It will be a tough match.
Good start for 1-1, getting to 3-3.
Uh-oh, Matt drops serve, down 4-5, Greul serving for the set.. and converts to win set.
Matt fighting - 2-2, deuce, but Matt drops serve to trail 23.
Comes back to level at 4-4.
Tie-break in 2nd set. Matt leads 3-1.
Back in the match winning the tie-break 74 to level at 1 set all.
Ebden getting into gear now, breaks to lead 2-1.
Long break - ito??
Then Matt gets on with it and holds serve all the way to a 6-4 3rd set win.
