Ebden played nervous tennis for a set and a half to start. Made over 28 unforced errors in getting to 3-6, 2-6 down. Steadied and found his range toward the ned of the 2nd set but the damage had been done. Russell a mirror image of Ebden - retrives well, moves well, very consistent, no big serve, does not give you much pace to work with. Ebden was forced to generate pace to win the points and thus made more errors than normal.
He reportedly didn't start too well but won the important points and then it all fell into place. Igor Kunitsyn is up next. Kunitsyn will be the favourite to win so hopefully Matt can produce an upset.
