Pending Matt's result tomorrow against probably Roddick that is when the Sydney wc will be announced. If Ebden can somehow make his way into the semifinals in Brisbane then he will receive a secured entry into Sydney and won't need the wc. If Matt loses he will almost certainly get the wc into Sydney. It would be great though if Matt made it to the semis and we got two players in the main draw for Sydney, probably Luczak or Marinko. Good luck Matt, your going to need it tomorrow.

He plays Toad tomorrow and yes he will probably get a Sydney wildcard. I think they might have had Jones in mind before this mini run however....

Greg may have to settle for a qualie wildcard now. Duckworth and Barton are two guys with a good shot as well for the qualies.

Yes you are right, I forgot that Roddick was not the number 1 seed. Matt is going to struggle to keep up with the pace of Soderling but if Robin plays average then Matt can definitely be competitive. Matt will get the wc for Sydney for sure if he gets knocked out today, he has come through qualies and beat a top 40 player, everyone else lost first round.

I'm thinking Matt is going to have a good start to the year, if he can perform in Sydney and Melbourne as well it will lead him in nicely to the Aussie challengers where he should be seeded highly and should be one of the favorites. It was nice to hear this come out of Matt's mouth last night - "I'm chasing the result rather than the experience". He really has put things in perspective and it is great to see.

Matt got the Wild Card for Sydney. Has drawn No.5 seed Richard Gasquet 1st round. It will be an interesting match.

Pretty good draw for Ebden, playing Mike Russell in the 1st round. Will be a grind of a match with long rallies but Russell is under a bit of an injury cloud coming into the AO, and if the match drags out, I expect Ebden to pull through here.
