Well said. Nalbandain beat Federer at slams twice (03 AO, 03 USO) but couldn't go on to win the slams.
Does anyone know if Nalbandian and Sampras ever played each other at a slam? It would have had to have been in 01 or 02 I guess. |

Feeling for angles definitely Nalbandian got more talent in that department, also got maybe more natural feel for halfvoleys from the base line and difficult returns of serve etc.
Safin in his younger years had a very unique combination of power and footwork. The quy just looked and played like a natural athlete

He was no Agassi, Tests.
He also sucked on grass and clay pretty much.
Had a lethal backhand but not much else.
I actually think Safin was very over rated.
He basically charmed his way to 2 slams.

Safin was a very good clay court player in the first half of his career. RG SF and good showings at the clay Masters series. Later on he lost patience with the surface after his body declined.
Lethal backhand and not much else? Try ridiculously good movement for his size, great serve and huge power as well. Guy dismantled Sampras in the final of his slam like he was nothing and the second slam run was just legendary.
