Lyon gives up (they couldn't find a financing because of political reasons).
It will be either Bercy, Clermont, Grenoble, Montbéliard, Nancy, Pau or Strasbourg.
The favourites (according to the Lyon newspaper) being Strasbourg and Clermont.

It's Clermont who has been chosen.

And Clermont it is. This makes my life easier, won't have to convince my husband to watch tennis in Strasbourg.

Well who said they wanted a big stadium for France-Spain?? because Clermont will not be such bigger than Toulon.

I am bit disappointed by their choice, i am wondering how much they will ask for the tickets, they will need their 400k€ back somehow

It is much bigger than Toulon which had around 4000 seats. Clermont had one of the biggest stadiums out of the list, bigger than Lyon or Strasbourg. Only Bercy (but too complicated and way too expensive - 2 millions!) and Pau were bigger, if I remember well.

So Marion is from Clermont? It's convenient then since she probably was the most motivated to go with those opponents.
As for me, I was rather rooting for Strasbourg in the end because the Bercy and Lyon stories were getting seriously annoying, but Clermont is fine for me - as in it makes my decision easier too!

Yes yes yeees time to give a wave to my long lost cousins from Clermont which I have not seen for 10 years
I'm not from there, but my father is, we still have family around. It was the best choice possible for me (apart from Bercy obviously.)
I'm worried too about the prices. But it's great that the center gets to see a litte bit of tennis, when it's such a unglamorous region usually. Do you think of going, Fran ?

No, for me it's pretty much the least convenient, so I won't be tempted. It wouldn't have been very sensible anyway since I think I'll go to Hamburg 2 weeks later.

I'm a bit late, but Jo criticized pretty heavily the choice of Clermont in Le Figaro the other day, saying he would have preferred a bigger city, it's important as a player to have the feeling you can do "something big". They could choose the surface, but not the city. Clermont was picked because it's cheaper, but it shouldn't be a money issue, etc.

Êtes-vous satisfait du choix de la ville?
Non.

Forget should annonce the team next week. I don't know if he will take only four players or five It looks less easy that in first round round to make the team. I have my own predictions
For doubles you have to pick Bennet and Llodra, Jo then and for the fouth you have many choices. I would not be suprised if Llodra take a titular spot in single. Gael is not very reliable lately and Gilles not yet at his best. I predict Bennet-LLodra-Jo-Gael in the fouth and for the alternate Gilles.

The spanish team should be Nadal and Ferrer in single as Verdasco is not reliable and for doubles you have Robredo-Granollers or Lopez-Verdasco.

Anyway it looks more winnable now than after RG

Just a pity they play in clermont ferrand... Jo was right, they would have deserved a biggest stadium, come one, it's SPAIN !!!!

Nadal won't play http://www.lequipe.fr/Tennis/breves2...l-renonce.html

I think that's now our chances are higher Verdasco and Ferrer with in form frenchies that can do it. I forgot Richard in my predictions but i don't know if he's still injured ?

It's easier of course but they're still favorite for me.
I hope to be wrong.

Finally they could have chosen clay

With or without Nadal, nothing really change, it makes things easier for sure, but they should not forget that Spain won in Argentina without Nadal.
And i also agree with Jo, they should have played in a bigger stadium...

teh selection should be done tomorrow and he could select 6 guys Richard was supposed to start training today so maybe he could be in the six.
