Re: Luke Saville Cheering Thread
After two disappointing first round losses in Aussie futures Luke is now in Japan playing in a GA tournament. Considering Luke has stated one of his goals is to gain the year end number 1 spot this week could be important for that goal. If Luke wins the tournament he might gain the number 1 ranking but it will come down to when Vesely loses. He'll also play a G2 in Korea next week where he is the defending champion. He almost definitely won't play the Orange Bowl considering the December Showdown is on at the same time so next week could be his last junior tournament of the year.
Luckily for Luke all the players around him in the rankings were born in '93 so there is a very high chance Luke will be number 1 in the world next year during the AO once the '93 born players are removed from the rankings. Although junior success is good I personally think that Luke should exclusively play the junior Grand Slams next year and forget about every other juniors tournament to play futures/challengers.

Re: Luke Saville Cheering Thread
So he wants a junior career, nothing else?
He's already 17, should shift to pros now.

He's had a crack at a few futures tournies this year and struggled. Maybe not quite ready for the transition yet??
Tomic is just a year or so older but what he has achieved so far is damn rare and rather impressive.

Not for the MD. Qualifying yes. Mitchell, Duckworth, Ball, Guccionie, Lemke and Matosevic would all be before him.

Because they have acutally been playing challengers/futures events while Luke has been playing juniors plus there ranking is higher and they have a way better chance of winning a main draw match. Luke is not ready for MD matches on the ATP tour when he isnt even playing challengers or futures.

Re: Luke Saville Cheering Thread
How did Tomic get a MD WC in 2009 then? Only because he won 2008 junior title or did he do something more?

We all know how much hype there was surrounding Tomic then. You are not gurranted a MD WC if you win junior Grand Slams. Unless you win Wimbledon like Luke did they will either give him a QWC or a MD WC there.

Interesting list Herbal.
No room for Hewitt and Jones?
Surely Jones ahead of Lemke and Ball?

Yeah, Luke is very likely going to be number one early next year, year-end number only means slightly more than former number one when it comes to juniors so it's no biggie that he lost in the quarters.
He should definitely only play the four junior Grand Slams next year. He turns 18 on February 1st so that's more than enough juniors.
