It's tough trying to win back-to-back masters in consecutive weeks, but Andy is holding his own very well indeed. I'm just happy to see him fit and winning his matches quite convincingly. Only complacency can lead him to lose against Benneteau today, but I think he'll get through easily enough. Another Federer match-up would be very thrilling; hope that materialises. Win or lose, his performances thus far are a great prelude for the US Open. Good luck!

Cmon Muztards you all know by now how Murray performs in one match has no effect on his other matches i expect him to be on top form Vs Fed.

Im impressed with his refusal to lose alot of top guys would lose a match like that with the USO round the corner but he cant let himsrelf do it, he fights his way through every situation.

Sorry for not posting earlier, but here are the press conference transcripts from Andy's matches in Cincinnati:

Quote:
August 19, 2009

A. MURRAY/N. Almagro

7-6, 6-2

An interview with:
ANDY MURRAY

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. You had the long game early in the second set. After that, you kind of seemed to be able to take control. Does winning a game like that really help you out a lot, give you a boost?

ANDY MURRAY: Well, yeah, it's always important, especially when you win a close set. You know, especially when I thought Almagro played very, very well in the first set. If you can get ahead, you know, early in the second, it makes a big difference to I think both players' confidence. I think his head went down a little bit after that. He struggled on his serve afterwards, and he
had been serving great up until then. Made a big difference.

Q. Do you feel you just kicked off where you left off in Montreal, playing at the same level?

ANDY MURRAY: I started to play better as the match went on. It was very fast. Definitely quicker conditions than last week. Took me a few games to get used to that, but I felt comfortable on the ball. I didn't really give him -- apart from the set point he had at 6-5 in the first set, that was the only breakpoint I gave him. I played well on my serve.

Q. It's been seven years since someone has won Canada and Cincinnati.
What do you think you have to do to overcome here to pull that off?

ANDY MURRAY: Well, a lot of it's, you know, a physical thing. It's difficult. I played a long final, which was -- I mean, it's just mentally quite tiring as well.
Then you have to obviously get here. I had like an hour, hour and a half to get used to the conditions. A lot of guys that didn't do so well have been here since Friday. Just gotta try and work your way into the tournament. If you can get yourself into the quarterfinals and semifinals, then you don't feel as tired because you're close to winning the tournament. So, you know, I'll give it my best shot.

Q. What are the thoughts on the next opponent, Stepanek?

ANDY MURRAY: He's tough. He plays different to a lot of guys on the tour. He's pretty unpredictable and plays serve and volley quite a lot and uses a lot of dropshots and slice. I need to stay focused against him, because he can do some pretty weird stuff on the court and try and put you off your game. So try and focus well.

Q. Is it tough to get used to the humidity here, too?

ANDY MURRAY: Not really, No. Because I trained a lot in Miami before I went to Montreal. Humidity is not a problem.

Q. Did the rain delay affect your play?

ANDY MURRAY: It was quite tough because I had to come out and serve to stay in the set. And also, you know, maybe one of the reasons why his serving went down, from one the end, the sun in that sort of 20 minutes had moved across the court a little bit and was right in your eyes when you were serving from that side where I nearly got broken when I was serving to stay in the set. So a little bit just on the serve, but once I got the first set, it was fine.

Quote:

A. MURRAY/R. Stepanek

6-4, 6-1

An interview with:
ANDY MURRAY

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. Did you feel you were in control all the way through?

ANDY MURRAY: Well, I started the match very well, serving well and not giving him any chances. Then the wind picked up at the end of the first set, and he managed to break me. But I played a good game to break back. Had a couple of good returns, and obviously a lob to finish with was nice.
After that, started to feel a lot better. It's tough conditions. Very, very windy.

Q. What do you have to tell yourself to do in these conditions?

ANDY MURRAY: Well, you need to be patient, because, you know, I saw a little bit of Federer's match before I was going on. You know, you can't play, you know, to the lines. You're gonna mishit some shots. It's just important to not get too frustrated. Even in the game where he got broken back, sometimes you -- you know, you feel comfortable serving out and it can get tricky. The guys that has got the wind can put quite a lot of pressure on you. You end up being quite a long way behind the baseline. It's not because you're feeling nervous, it's just, you know, the conditions make it tough to play aggressive. You just got to stay tough.

Q. You've played Federer very well, and there seems to be some players that
almost feel like there's a mental wall that they are not expected to beat the Nadals and the Federers, and they don't. How did you avoid that? What was your mindset that enabled you to have success?

ANDY MURRAY: Well, I always wanted to, since I was young, try and get to the top of the game. I think that, you know, if you get the chance
to play against, you know, those guys, that's -- well, it's great. I mean, that was always reason why I played, was to get the chance to play against
them. I wanted to play against Agassi when I was growing up. Unfortunately he retired. Federer and Nadal are the two best ones, and they're gonna go down in history as two of the best. I just love playing them. It's always a great challenge. Never been a problem for me.

Q. How do you feel about your recording on the Bryan brother's album?

ANDY MURRAY: It was good fun. I mean, they asked me to do it and I said that I would go for it. But, yeah, first time I've ever done that. Probably gonna be the last.

Q. When we told Blake that you had driven here, he said, Oh, I think he's a little bit afraid of flying. Do you have any kind of fear of flying with all the flights you take in a year?

ANDY MURRAY: No, I mean, I -- well, we spend probably about, I don't know, a hundred flights a year. Sometimes it's quite nice to drive. It's probably -- well, it was a bit longer than we expected, but I don't think you can do a job like this one if you have a fear of flying.

Q. You look fresher than you did on Monday or on Tuesday rather.

ANDY MURRAY: Well, I've had two quick matches. You know, obviously I had a long final on Sunday. You know, being able to, you know, sleep well and stuff the last few days and finish reasonably early has not been -- my matches have probably been an hour and 20 minutes max. I feel like I've recovered from the end of last week. Yeah, feel pretty fresh.

Q. Your opponent lost in quallies and he came through a three-hour match today. Are you pretty clear that you're gonna feel a lot fresher than him tomorrow?

ANDY MURRAY: Well, I mean, I obviously played a lot of matches last week as well, so I don't think that will be the factor whether I win or lose the
match. You know, he's -- most guys recover reasonably well in three-set matches. Lucky it wasn't particularly hot today. But he's a tough player. You know, if I play well and stay tough early on, then maybe he'll struggle a little bit.

Not a great start Already a break down, not too bad if he did lose today, but a win against Federer is always good I'm thinking 3-6 6-4 7-6

Never mind. A loss is good sometimes. At least he has learnt he's not invincible on HC and he needs to play well to win, and cant just rely on oppenant being worse snd making errors.

Saying that i didnt have any major complaints with his general ground game in 2nd set, but serve and returns not firing at all yet still had chances to win it.

Nevertheless congrats on last 2 weeks Andy now focus on the big one !!

Good thing or not, and it's over now, he needs to now focus on New York.

He's not even played amazingly well the last two weeks so I hope he's saving the huge performances for the US Open.
