Re: Blaž Kavčič Thread
Blaž is back in Rijeka to defend his title. He has defeated Dancevic and Trujillo-Soler in straight sets, will play Lorenzi in the QF.

Re: Blaž Kavčič Thread
Expected dry spell during the grass season. Still, we can't pretend there's no major ahead of Kavcic - he's playing Kamke in the first round of Wimbledon. Anything but a first round exit would be a pleasant surprise here. Makes me wonder - has he ever won a match played on grass?

Re: Blaž Kavčič Thread
Disappointing loss for Blaž against Starace. It was always going to be tough, but tactically it wasn't a good performance. Started fairly well, then when Starace improved in the 2nd set, Kavčič got too passive, wasn't hitting the ball at all.
Starace served better and was controlling the points as Blaž was moving further back into the court, then Starace was able to use excellent dropshots. Good that Kavčič was able to get one of the breaks back in the 4th, even then he had a bp chance get it back on serve, but it was saved by a good serve.

Re: Blaž Kavčič Thread
2 wins For Blaz today. Win over Benneteau 75 in the third and doubles(with Pere Riba) win over Cermak/Polasek 64 63.
I thought it's worth mentioning the doubles win coz the Slovenes never play doubles and I think this might be one of the first wins on the ATP level.

Re: Blaž Kavčič Thread
Kavčic and Voinea aren't working together anymore and this disappoints me greatly.

Re: Blaž Kavčič Thread
Bostjan Osabnik - I wonder how could HE help him. For the last 5 or 6 years he's been mostly playing League Championships in GER, ITA and SLO...
They broke up because Adrian, due to his family, can't be his full time coach which is what Blaz is searching for right now...

He is only temporary, but Voinea was great for him. It was amicable at least. There are some good coaches around, just need to be patient.

Re: Blaž Kavčič Thread
He was not patient enough. His new coach for the test period of 5 straight weeks is Slovenia's Davis Cup captain Blaz Trupej. Trupej has coached a plethora of players, men and women, with not much success. The only player he has "brought" to the top 100 was WTA's Maja Matevzic (CH of 38), the rest failed badly.
Frankly, if he had kept Voinea for just those 12 weeks per year it would've still been better than hiring Trupej.

Re: Blaž Kavčič Thread
Trupej is shit. I actually think David Lenar should be DC captain.
Boreas, totally agree with you about Voinea. I mean I can see Blaž being between 50-75, too bad he doesn't have Zemlja's talent. Lost the best coach for him.

Re: Blaž Kavčič Thread
I think Trupek is excellent choice he did wonders for Maja Matevzic who was third wheel back in the days when Slovenia was winning all junior titels with Srebotnik, Pisnik and Hergold ... she was hanging at around 300 before Blaz took over and made her into top50 player (at some point even better than Pisnik or Srebotnik)

Re: Blaž Kavčič Thread
Trupej also coached a bunch of other players since Matevzic's retirement and achieved nothing. Most of the players even regressed.(most notably Zec-Peskiric )
AJ - you think Zemlja's more talented? He's got more power on serve and groundstrokes, but other than that they're pretty even talent-wise. Yet, I'd have never predicted Kavcic to have a better ranking and more success on the tour.
