Del Potro went through a nightmare trapped in an elevator
Bad time. Was trapped in the cabin for almost two hours and a half.
Juan Martin Del Potro, at the end of this edition he should face his debut at the Australian Open vs the German Mischa Zverev, lived on Sunday evening one of the biggest shocks of his life, was trapped in the elevator of the hotel for almost two hours and a half. After winning the ATP World Tour from Auckland, the tandilense, with his coach Franco Davin and Martiniano Orazi coach, arrived in Melbourne yesterday morning.
Then they went to sleep and return to train the incident at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, located 5 minutes from Melbourne Park. Davin and Orazi fell on the floor 19 and Delpo continued to her room alone. But suddenly the elevator stooped on the middle of 27 and 28. the #1 Argentina played the alarm and sent messages with his cell. "But I had my phone without battery," Orazu told to Clarin. "Then came the call to the hotel."
On the elevator intercom, Del Potro was 40 minutes speaking with people in the Hyatt, that being Sunday, the technicians did not find him to resolve the problem. "He was shocked" Davin recounted.
Del Potro began to sweat and he dropped a little pressure. After the last hour wait could bring down a bit and opened the elevator door. "He was red, and for relax him i took a picture" says Orazi. Later, when the nerves torment him, an engineer came out on the roof of the elevator and took him out. "It is incredible that in a five star hotel this happens. Juan lived a very bad time," said Davin. At that point in the afternoon, the managers of the hotel than is located on Russell Street was looking to Del Potro in the best possible way. Then came the dinner and sleep for the tennis player with almost two meters. , Though the nightmare lived before was over
"I can not think of anything like that, what happened was terrible, I thought I was dying"
It was night at the Grand Hyatt. Just winning in New Zealand, the first racket of our country, but at this stage what is a data-redundant, took the lift, enabling the card set and pressed the button 28 from the floor, their home. Suddenly, the light was extinguished, the system was cut. There was a sort of explosion. Was just a dim light that indicated the level 27. Desperate, he made several calls from Franco Davin, his coach, to internal security, according to his account. "I was trapped, with no light and no emergency button walked at least, no one answered- I broke the voice, I had no air," reports on the edge of despair. "I thought I was dying. Really?", Launches as a relief.
"What if I thought it would not be able to play More than in the Open, really feared for my life"
"I thought about leaving as the Pink Panther, I thought of anything at that time. I was dizzy, my tummy hurt"

Re: Juan's 09 Cheering Thread - Auckland's Champion .. Next: Australian Open
Poor guy...sounds like it was scary. His line about the Pink Panther was kind of cute though.
Good luck to him tonight. I am really hoping he makes it to the quarters here (and would enjoy it if he got beyond- but that may be too tall a juncture at this point in his career.)
Unfortunately not. I missed all yesterday's matches.
