Good luck Mark! So jealous of you, haha. You're still fairly young and get to play into competitive matches. I just started attending a Division I university as a freshman and they just cut their tennis team due to funds so that's a big bummer right now and my time on the junior's circuit is about to be up as I'm turning 19 very quickly.

But again good luck and enjoy that you are playing the sport that we all here so dearly love and wished that we could have become pros, at such a high level.

hey mate... good one...

if itf events are a goal for you, but for one reason or another you may not be able to do them... then, my advice to you is play more senior events than juniors... st petersburg is a big city and i am sure you'll find a tourney every other week fairly easy...

seniors will expose your game more readily than juniors... you'll have much more to deal with... they will find the cracks that need instant filling much quicker than what your junior contemporaries will... and you'll have much more detailed feedback for your coach - for the future, not just a short term junior solution...there is a reason why so, so many of the world's great juniors could never make the jump into seniors...

remember: you wont be a junior forever...

good luck...

Unfortunately, there are no futures in st.petersburg The only tournament is ATP 250 St.Petersburg Open, where I`ve got no chances to get in. There are also only two RTT (Russian Tennis Tour) adults championships in a year (summer + winter). Last year the winner got 3000 Euro for winning the tournament I will play qualies here this year, unless I get a WC.

I was ill (could not move my neck) and retired from the match after winning the 1st set 6-1 and being down 4-1 in 2nd. Still it has been nice 2 weeks (2nd place and 4th place) and I gonna break into top 60 in national ranking which comes out on monday. I was No. 73 4 weeks ago.
I am having a week off now, when I will be training and preparing for June tournaments.
There is an russian article about the St.Petersburg Championship (where I lost in the final), but unfortunately there are no photos. There is a draw http://www.tennisfed.spb.ru/news/2009/05/16year.xls

I decided to withdraw from the next week tournament due to knee injury (I`ve got the same problem as Monfils )
Now my goal is to stay healthy and get ready to the Baltic Wind tournament which starts 15th June.

Just came back from the match. I lost to Chernov 6-2 3-6 1-6
It has been *2-2 40-15 in 2nd set, but I made some UE and the only DF in the match to lose a serve
Missed lots of chances in the end of the set.
He was playing awesome tennis in the 3rd set!!! I was playing ok, but just couldn`t do anything on important points. Lost many game from deuce score.
I`ll post some photos from my training soon, if the photograph uploads them to the net

Hello again! This is Mark.
Bad news: I played Pajulahti CUP ITF qualies and lost QR2 match to Kristaps Lapins from Latvia in 3 sets.
Good news: My russian ranking is going up faster than I could imagine!
I was outside of top 100 in marth, but now with 1054 points I am No. 50 in country ranking (16 Under category). I am also No. 94 in 18 Under and close to top 150 in Adults category.
For example No.1 in Russia in 18 Under is the winner of Junior Wimbledon Andrey Kuznetsov, having about 7000 points.
My goal is to improve my phisics in july to be capable of winning ITF matches and playing better in 3-setters.

Sorry about the loss...but taking it to 3 sets is a step in the right direction.

And congrats on moving up the rankings.

I won qf 6-2 6-2, playing nice tennis.
In semis, I`ll face No.1 seed and No.1 in St.Petersburg Alexander Vasilenko. It will be very tough to beat him, as the last time we played he destroyed me 6-1 6-1.

Well, that time I played semis, I lost to that guy, No.1 in Russia, though he is almost 2 years younger than me 4-6 3-6.
Since theh I played ITF tournament in Finland, where I lost in qualies to one guy from Germany in a very close battle: 6-7(11) 6-4 4-6. Was a bit mentally broken after that loss, where I choked like 5 SP in 1st set.
But now I back. Played tournament in january, when I lost in QF in another tough match. I seem to be having problems in all the close matches lately
Next week is one really important tournament - St.Petersburg Open Championship in Adults category. I am 2nd in qualies right now. Hopefully someone will withdraw and I will get into main draw!
There are some cool players participating, like Vladimir Karusevich, Igor Rud, Ivan Syrov, Anton Galkin and some others. Karusevich was the quaterfinalist of Junior French Open a couple of years ago. Others have played some challengers and futures.
If I get in, I hope to get the strongest possible opponent
Will post more later
