The qualifier playing Andujar in R1 is Xavier Malisse. Since Andujar has no record of playing on grass, it's very likely Marat will be playing Malisse in R2.

I managed to see Marat practising which was really good, unfortunately no autograph/photo with him as he left really quickly through the practice courts instead of the exit where everyone was waiting for him! I did get Marin Cilic and Gilles Simon's autographs though so overall it was a very good day!

I know what you mean. Qualifiers can be a bit dangerous to play in your 1st match at a tournament (especially the 1st match on grass!). The qualifiers already have several wins under their belt (Malisse has won 4), so they are comfortable and have confidence. But on the positive side, Malisse is ranked #172, and Marat beat him pretty easily the last time they faced each other in Monte Carlo last year when Marat's ranking was down the 90's and was playing a lot worse.

How totally exasperating! I mean, I rearranged my day around this match . Did anyone else see Marat's mini interview during the Beeb's Sunday coverage of the RG final? Not to suggest he's faking or anything but he sounded really nasally congested, so either he has a nasty cold OR he's suddenly literally allergic to grass?
