Default Re: Wildcards earnt or given ?

Well question is, if Tomic for example provides more of a challenge, why didn't he manage to qualify?

The argument is really to who they hand them out to. After all, all the players they gave them to merited them according to the criteria set down. No idea if you watched the Goodall match, but he did take it to a 5th set and I think deserved his WC. Boggo.... well, you could argue he's playing the 20th seed but I didn't see all of his match, so I can't really comment, nor can I comment on Ward's game.

As for the woman, I have no views really.....

But why are Dent and Tomic more deserving? To me they seem like names that a thrown around a lot but I have no idea what they have done. Players should be given wildcards based on recent, impressive performances. It's a tough one, and something that will always be argued about strongly.

But that will usually be the case that a wildcards plays a seed/good player so we cannot make excuses for the repeated failures by saying that .
And i agree 100% about them being given on recent performances but this is never the case they are always given on nationality. Also Goodall was impressive but at 23 he should now be making a breakthrough with the mass amounts of money spent by the LTA !
