His shoulder was a bit painful that's why he doesn't serve this morning but he's happy with his game from baseline and having BP.

In L'Equipe:
Quote:

P. COVILLE

Default Re: Seb's Come Back

He was breaking the "slowness limit" on the speed check yesterday. The contrast with Monfils, who was regularly serving above 200 km/h, was striking. It's frustrating to start a service game knowing that it will be such a struggle to win a point, he says, but at least the diagnosis is very easy to make and he knows what he has to do now - work in the gym.
Arnaud: "I know that 'Grogro' is so happy to be back on the courts. Of course the serve is a problem. For the time being. I'm sure it will come back. I'm optimistic."
Fritz (Seb's coach) is a tad more careful: "It's a bit worrying his serve is so weak, though. It's too bad because he isn't looking bad at all in the rallies. There are two problems with his serve: the fear and the lack of strength." He also plays with a new shorter racket in order to reduce the amplifying "lever effect" for his shoulder. But it means less speed too. It's a vicious circle.
Metz has been encouraging nonetheless. Yesterday's defeat doesn't refute the positives of the win over Mahut. But the gap was too big from a player ranked #180 to a player ranked #13 in the world.
He was the one who got the first BP yesterday. Four, at 1-1 - he should have taken the first one. But it wouldn't have changed anything, Fritz admits. The good thing is that Seb was looking rather "dashing" in the rallies against a Monfils who showed an acceptable level of game. A real test for Seb whose footwork was looking good and whose FH was not as accurate as in the days of his glory, but still good enough to break the speed limit.
Now he will have to be patient and humble. He knew it when he opted for the surgery. "It's a difficult challenge, but it motivates me a lot." Next up: the gym and Challengers (Rennes and Orléans) to get back into the rhythm which let him down a little yesterday. And then Lyon and probably Bercy. "I'll have two months then to bring myself up to standard". The goal is the 2010 season.

Thanks! The stats show that he was not that far off on all the plays except the 1st serve. We'll have to be patient and more importantly he'll have to be patient. This was his 1st real tournament after a long long time. He has 2 weeks to get ready and then play a couple of tournaments where the quality of the field will be similar to Mahut. I'm excited!
GO SEB!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to everybody for all the updates over the last few weeks.

So great to see Seb back on the tour at last. Great Mahut result, guess we couldn't have expected too much for him. Monfils was pretty tough.
Hope this is the start of a great (new) beginning!

I don't know where you saw that he had withdrawn because on the website of the "Open de Rennes" there is no information about it, quite the contrary ... I hope you're wrong.

I'm sorry but you're right: Tennis: Sébastien Grosjean forfait pour l'Open de Rennes

It's not a good new!!!!

Orleans first round vs Ascione. Ascione is in a very good shape and plays the final in Rennes this sunday. Good luck.
