Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
Jonesie misses out by a whisker. Had Sweeting at 15-40 at 5-4 in the 3rd but Sweeting served his way out and won 6-4, 5-7, 7-5. Disappointment for Jones but a good showing against an opponent ranked 140 places higher than him.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
This time Jonesie gets in by a whisker against No.6 seed Jan Hernych at Caloundra. In swirling gale force wind he got up 26 64 75, after coming back from a break down in both the 2nd and 3rd sets. Gutsy win in gusty wind.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
Hernych qualified and won 2 rounds at Aus Open i believe. Great win by Jones, he really has had some impressive performances lately.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
Jonesie avoids qualifying at Dallas as he makes the main draw acceptances.
Back in action after a two week lay-off.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
A great upset win for Jonesie, against Marsel Ilhan, fighting back from a horrible tie-break (lost 7-4)in which struggled to hold serve. But he broke Ilhan 1st game 2nd set and never looked back, running away for a 6-7, 6-2, 6-2 win.
Well done Jonesie

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
Greg sneaks out of the match against teenager wild card recipient Denis Kudla with a come from behind 36 76(3) 62 win. Twice a break down at 2-4 and 4-5 Jonesie broke back and won the tie-break to level the match. He broke Kudla 1st game and then had a maraton service game, saving 3 separate break points before winning the game on about the 5th deuce. Generally served poorly but picked up when it mattered in the tie-break and the end of the 3rd set.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
A fighting effort by Jonesie against Bogomolov. A set down he came from a break down at 4-2 in the 2nd set to take the match to the tie-break, then saved four match points when 2-6 down to steal the tie-break 8-6 and level the match. Unfortunately could not go on with it, falling a break down and then breaking Bogo when he served for the match at 5-4, saving another two match points to level at 5-4. Saved another mp on his serve but could not save the 6th match point, for Bogo to advance to the semis with a 63 67 64 win. Jonesie played well but did not serve at his best.

Re: Greg Jones Cheering Thread
Jonesie not able to scale the mountain against No.2 seed and Commonwealth Games victor Somdev Devaarman, unable to convert any of 3 break point opportunities in the second set, going down 2-6, 4-6. Get him next time Jonesie...
