The "Murray makes a move on Madrid" thread
Everybody seems reluctant to start this. . . so, this is the very first time I have started a thread on MTF!
I'm just praying that he doesn't get another tricky floater in the first round, it seems to me he has had more than his fair share of them. Go Andy!

Re: The "Murray makes a move on Madrid" thread
I'm actually rather worried about the prospect of Robredo in R3. Andy has never actually beaten him: the H2H is 2-1 to Robredo, who beat Andy on hard courts the first two times and retired in the last match. He is good on clay.

Re: The "Murray makes a move on Madrid" thread
I have a sneaky feeling Tipsarevic might be his oppo in rd 3. Unpredictably brilliant.

Andy was trashing him though in Miami and I'm not persuaded that was all about the wrist.
However, on clay he shouldn't be taken lightly.

I think that Andy can easily deal with Mug Pony.

Re: The "Murray makes a move on Madrid" thread
I think he should be ok against Bolelli. In Madrid last year (when it was played on hard) Andy was beating him 6-0 2-1 when Bolelli retired.
The also played in that one-set exho in memory of Luzzi - I can't remember the score, but Andy won despite the fact somebody said he was "experimenting" with various shots - and that was on clay.
(I just hope I haven't jinxed him!)

I hope so too.
He's a player I can see giving Andy problems if Andy is off his game...but otherwise Andy should be able to see him off relatively comfortably.
After Monaco in Rome I'm not feeling over-confident but hopefully this one will go better.

Re: The "Murray makes a move on Madrid" thread
For some reason I can't edit the above post to get rid of the typo - for "the" at the start of the second sentence, read "they".
They are running very late on that court, Montanes/Melzer are into a third set and there is still another entire match before Andy - I can see I'm going to miss his match as I have to be out tonight.

Re: The "Murray makes a move on Madrid" thread
yes this is quite tiresome. if Ljubicic-Tsonga goes to three it could be 6pm UK time or later when he gets on court, which will be very inconvenient for me as I have people coming round tonight.
