Ugly? No way! It was so exciting...well done David!!! Great match...Gonzo just made 2 errors at the end...but I think Ferrer always had the edge from the 2nd set onwards.
Ferrer led 4-1, 5-2 in the final set...great match.
Very enjoyable and entertaining match. Adding more pop into the shots was a good way to compensate the wind effects.
Good comebacks from Gonzo after 5-2 and also in TB going with all or nothing attitude but that DF to give a MP was awful.
Gonzo was on fire in that first set hitting clean winners from both sides, but Ferrer is the biggest fighter on the tour, he didn't throw his toys out of the pram. He stepped in the up in the second set and able to expose Gonzo's forehand. The third set, Gonzo played well in the game that Ferrer was broken when serving for it, but kudos to Ferrer he didn't drop the bundle and kept at it, a double fault in the tB cost Gonzo.
Just hope Ferrer can make it competitive tomorrow.

Thought Ferrer might have blown it having lost the 3rd set lead, but credit to him for finally putting Gonzo to the sword (with the help of a df at 5-5 in the tiebreak). Many believed that the match could go the distance, so good that it lived up to its potential.
Best of luck to Ferrer, tomorrow. Thinking that somehow he won't be able to extend Rafa as he did in last year's final.
Good comeback from Ferrer. What an adjustment he made after losing the first set, shortening the points and looking to come into the net and not letting Gonzalez use his off forehand as much. I didn't know he was as capable of executing a plan B as well as that.
Good match overall, in particular the long game in the third set at 4-2, I think.
What a fight back from Ferru after the first set where Gonzo was playing "lights out" tennis. Not sure many other plays would have hung in there and made a comeback like that in the 2nd set.
Probably he didn't want to be schooled by Rafa on clay, and he made a strategic tank in the last 2 points of the TB.
Do well in Roma now Feña :fiery:
