Not for a moment did I expect a good draw (they don't exist any more for Marat)...but I could have done without seeing Hewitt as the first round match. He seems to be having a mini-resurgence at the moment. Looks like an interesting draw all round though...should be a good tournament.

Love the thread title...could be more glam than tennis for Marat in MC this year!

Aaah. That pic still makes me faint. One of the best ever taken of Oaf.

Edit: do any of the Frenchies know whether this tournament will be broadcasted on French tv? I vaguely remember watching it years ago.. some match against Coria and the fact that a certain ex-gf who's name I shall not mention arrived in what appeared to be a big white winter sweater while everyone else was in t-shirts and tank tops. For some reason I always remembered that.

It should be on Sport+ like every Masters Series.

They used to show one semi-final and the final on France 2 or France 3 (only to stop coverage to show rugby ), it might be on France 4 this year.

Anyway, there are always livestreams.

Good Davis Cup practice - Russia and Spain could meet in the DC SF.

Houston is about 7 hours behind Monte Carlo (jet-lag!), so the tournament directors will surely push his 1st round match against Marat back as far as they can in order to get a competitive match.

Marat is the highest ranked unseeded player in the draw.

Does he have many points to defend here? Or is it a chance to make some? All being well

Well if he beats Hewitt then Stepanek or whatever he will play Nadal, if he doesn't beat Nadal then he has barely made any. Lost to Ferrer last year.

Some fashion disasters at the Monte Carlo launch party (yesterday):

Nole's white jacket

Feliciano couldn't look more gay even if he'd try

Well... I prefer Marat and his green plaid shirt...
