Good thread I'm not too much into classical music but I'd like to change it in not very distant future maybe with help of this thread.

I've been delighted with "Lascia ch'io pianga" for a few weeks. I hadn't known it before I watched "Antichrist" by von Trier. Now I know it's from "Rinaldo", composed by Georg Friedrich Händel.

prima: could you translate for me the title? I've found "Let me weep over" but...

And later this fragment: "Il duolo infranga queste ritorte". How would you translate it? What's "ritorto"? I haven't got such a word in my dictionaries

Kubrick's Barry Lyndon got me into classical music. And I'm glad it did. When I was a teenager it was rather a closed book to me.

Schubert's Trio in E Flat is just beauty and in Kubrick's masterpiece, it's close to perfection.

All of them are beautiful, I love chorals, thanks for posting.
(I've never heard the Rachmaninov piece before)

I personally much prefer the 1041 over everything else. I just have a rather strange fascination with A minor that I can't seam to get over.

As a contribution, this is my 2nd favourite rendition of Tu che di gel sei cinta. I only recently discovered Mirella Freni, she seams a little overworked at times, but her sound is just so beautiful.
The sound of the recording isn't really perfect, and just ignore the mistake in the title of the video.
