Default RIP Lee Kuan Yew

It is a sad day for Singapore - whether he was liked or hated, he did something right to get Singapore to where it is now. The country has achieved so much in 50 years - pretty impressive I must say!

We, non Singaporeans, don't know how to feel about Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, as reports about his ways of ruling have been controversial, despite the obvious great results.

Condolences though, of course, as he seems to have been popular in the country in a good way.

Yeah, I'm actually quite sad that his ruthless crushing of his political opponents and his use of detention without trial somewhat taint his legacy. That said, it's also because of his foresight and policies that I am able to be well-educated enough to 1) form an opinion on his methods; 2) articulate this opinion; and 3) criticise his methods. I'm especially grateful that he imposed English on the country; without English, I wouldn't get anywhere worthwhile in the world. The man was no saint and I would advise you not to believe people who try to tell you that he was, but he really did a lot for Singapore, and you even get the sense that he held jealously on to power because he genuinely cared about the country.

Despite some of the authoritarian tendencies, absolutely amazing what he accomplished in Singapore. I'm blown away every time I visit.

yeah to be hones

whats worse?

when one man does it and we know about it

or when our governments do it in CIA torture reports and the Mainstream media white wash it

and society turns its head and pretends it doesnt exist, or that waterboarding needs to happen so that they can go to walmart safely ((with a gun strapped to their holster))
