There are livestreams for the Masters France, by the way (like http://www.atdhe.net/7635/watch-masters-france).
Maybe you already know it, I just discovered it.

What I like about them is that, not being a sports specialist newspaper, they write with a very sociological view of the personalities, an objective and exterior point of view of someone who doesn't especially follow tennis.

I still like Simon's portrait, the style is indeed different but it's refreshing. It's a bit over-dramatic at times but some passages are well-written "Gilles Simon arrive, repart, revient, repart écumer les coursives à la recherche d’un paquet de bonbons, le trouve, affale son mètre quatre-vingt-cinq sur un canapé, s’étonne." I like that style.
I don't know if Libé were the firsts to say that Gillou was a prodigy concertist It's the kind of urban legend which runs in the profession

What did you learn about Richard for example ?
I agree with you about the second article : it's also quite good and informative actually, and gives a correct impression about Simon (I especially liked the end of the article).

I was rather speaking about the whole Liberation writers, these sports writers look very good. I have the same political opinions as Liberation actually but sometimes the style in that newspaper is too polemist or ironic, although I have the impression it quite improved since Joffrin became the director and some writers did go.

Recently I read Simon referrong to that "piano legend" and not quite satisfied about that, he referred to a press article saying that everybody now told me about that but I don't know if it was this one.

For instance, in Gasquet's article, I learnt that he voted Sarkozy and "agreed with most of words he said" and also I didn't know the precise story about his father moving to Paris and so on : I was less informed than some of you (esp Truc ), I guess

Expected from a left newspaper

Yeah, I thought it must have something to do with Richard's political opinions (which we don't share or so it seems ) But he has said for a long time that he was on Sarko's side. Being so close to Lagardère who basically is the cliché of capitalism, it was hard to expect something else. I think most of the players lie towards the right wing too, I don't know for sure about Jo and Gilles but that wouldn't surprise me. The only one whom I'm expecting to share left values is Gaël, but again I have no certitude, as Richard has been the only one to speak out loud about his views

I don't remember either Jo and Gaël speaking about their political views, but Gilles regularly does - and he is right wing.
There was an article in L'Equipe about the French players in Casa at the time of the presidential elections and some of them clearly said whom they had voted for.
There are some real Sarkotards in French tennis, Llodra said once he came back to France because he was happy to have Sarko as a president (he was living in Switzerland with the rest of the bunch). Let alone Santoro.

(I was reading again yesterday the old portrait of Amélie in Libé, btw, and it is a bit cruel to read now, like she won't leave for Switzerland for tax reasons like all the others, etc. I was shocked she was an official supporter of Sarko in 2007.)

Marine posted parts of the article in l'Equipe about the elections:

Good article : Clement actually has clever views

As Keijan said, I guess most of them are right-wing ... and I think one of the important reasons is that they have a good reason for that : money, and the fact that they feel "complelled" to move to Switzerland to avoid taxes.

Surely that can motivate to vote right wing

As for Tsonga, I don't know, but both of his parents are teachers, and his mother helped disadvantaged children, then it's still possible that he's rather left wing as you know, this kind of people rather vote left wing Anyway, mere speculation as Jo has made (and earnt ) a lot since then, but it can be a reason

Thanks, I wasn't sure about that but it makes sense, knowing him. I think he also enjoys watching the political game from afar, not necessarily taking a side, but when it comes to voting it makes sense that he would go for the right.
But I didn't know about Amélie ! I'm a bit stupid too, I have a tendancy to assume that homosexual people are from the left wing, but that's a ridiculous belief.

Indeed for Jo, I hadn't thought of that but most teachers go to the left and so do their children (I'm in a good position to know that as both my parents are teachers.) Their political opinions don't change anything for me, but I would feel more at ease knowing he and Gael are left sided tbh

Anyway as long as nobody votes FN I think we're safe

Front national, the party of Jean Marie Lepen. Or, if you never heard of him, it's the extreme right french party. Neonazis french kind, basically, at least as far as I'm concerned...

Like our BNP then, horrendous but more and more people I know are talking about voting for them. It really scares me.

Sorry offtopic.

neonazis you exaggerate (although there may be a few members like that) but yes it's extreme-right, with all the stupidity that you can imagine

17% votes in 2002 French presidential elections , now far less because our president took a share of their "market"

Ok maybe no more off-topic

The "retro" of the musqueteers is out : http://www.canalplus.fr/tous-les-pro...ur-sport.html?
(hoping that works abroad)

Gilles plays the game of "20 ans après", sequel to the 3 musqueteers book, which gives a look on what the characters became 20 years later. So there we are with a 44 years-old Simon (bien conservé pour son âge!) telling us about the gifted (Richard), the "marmule" (??? Jo), the elastic man (Gael) and himself's 2009 year

There is nothing really new, they're reshowing old parts of the 8 previous musqueteers vids with a few new interviews from the 4 players and their coaches. But it's very nice to both reflect on what happened and have their takes a few months later of their biggest matches then. Even if that DC defeat in Czech Rep still hurts.

But 44 yo Gillou is too funny especially when he tries very hard to be super natural or when he makes front page of the World

As always if someone needs translation, please give the minute
