Such a shame that there's no live stream, but they should at least televise it within Japan!
I couldn't find Aust vs China as well, both Tomic and Hewitt is playing but because it's in China there's no tv coverage.

I'm glad Kei leveled the tie though.
Good luck in doubles

Thanks for the updates guys, this was a crucial rubber.
The win should take some pressure off Kei's singles rubber against Istomin, go Japan!

Kei won, and Japan won!!

Kei (5)6-7, 7-5, 6-4, 6-3

Itomin's serve was really impressive and strong, but Kei seemed to be able to adjust and manage them well.

Yay for Japan team!

Soeda beat Istoyanov in the 5th rubber so they won 4-1.

Kei serving for the match:

Japan beat Uzbekistan in Davis Cup
(AFP) – 5 hours ago

KOBE, Japan — Japanese ace Kei Nishikori defeated Denis Istomin to take an insurmountable 3-1 lead over Uzbekistan to reach a play-off for the Davis Cup World Group.

Nishikori, who also won the first singles and doubles matches, on Sunday scored a 6-7 (5/7), 7-5, 6-4, 6-3 victory in the best-of-five contest of the Asia-Oceania zone Group One second round tie.

Nishikori was ranked 50th against Istomin's 68th this week.

Istomin gave Uzbekistan a kickstart beating Tatsuma Ito in the opener on Friday, but Farrukh Dustov abandoned the second singles match to Nishikori due to dehydration before Nishikori and Go Soeda won the doubles on Saturday.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Yep. Dustov retired due to dehydration on Friday.
Apparently it was very humid inside the stadium so it was tough both for the players as well as the crowd. Reportedly Kei also was close to suffering heat stroke in and indoor stadium. The humidity was 80% inside (!!) and Kei changed shirts 7 or 8 times.
As much as I am happy about Japan's victory, I think it was awful for both countries. I guess the JTA chose a venue that is far enough from the Fukushima nuclear plant, but there are cooler places in Japan too, like Hokkaido or in some mountain resorts. :donno:

Day 2: 14.00 hrs (05.00 hrs GMT)
Day 3: 13.00 hrs (04.00 hrs GMT)

Kei NISHIKORI, Date of birth: 29 Dec 1989, Singles ranking: 46
Tatsuma ITO, Date of birth: 18 May 1988, Singles ranking: 127
Go SOEDA, Date of birth: 05 Sep 1984, Singles ranking: 123

India:
Somdev DEVVARMAN, Date of birth: 13 Feb 1985, Singles ranking: 64
Rohan BOPANNA, Date of birth: 04 Mar 1980, Singles ranking: 558
Leander PAES, Date of birth: 17 Jun 1973, Doubles ranking: 8
Mahesh BHUPATHI, Date of birth: 07 Jun 1974, Doubles ranking: 6

-----------------------------------------------
Kei's injuries tend to occur after playing Davis Cup. But he says he loves playing for Japan, so if he's decided to play I hope all the best to him and Team Japan!
But I pray the Japanese captain won't force him to play three rubbers...! Japan will have no chance against Bhupathi and Paes anyway.

This time the tie will be played at Ariake Colosseum, the venues for Japan Open. So it will also be a valuable match practice for Kei before the tournament.
