Default Strings and shoulder pain

How long would it take before a new string would/could give you shoulder pain? Does anyone know if strings would even cause pain in your shoulder? Its been about a few weeks that I've been using a kevlar blend and now i have shoulder pain. Dont know if there is any relation but I know my shoulder hurts. Anyone have an idea?

strings generally vibrate at a low frequency, so are rarely the cause of shoulder pain. it is the high frequency racket vibrations that usually cause pain. however, kevlar is so stiff it is one of the only strings that causes problems. it is always advised that you should string kevlar 10% lower than to compensate. but really, kevlar should only be used by chronic strings breakers, who cant get any durability out of any other string. let me put it this way, i'm thinking of stringing up a kevlar/natural gut hybrid in my prince graphite mid at 30lbs, about half my normal tension.

I already had shoulder problems, but the moment I put aramid (Kevlar), it just became unbearable. I use now Wilson's NXT.

As it turns out, my doctor diagnosed me with having shoulder tendonitis. Rest and ibuprofin seems to be in order. Keep hitting with the kevlar strings cuz it wasn't the strings that gave me shouder issues...

whilst tendonitis is an overuse injury and using kevlar strings is not a direct cause of it, the increased amplitude of vibrations from the string arent going to do your shoulder any favours

I agree. I still have suspect that the strings have something (even if it is just a little) to do with the pain. I love these strings though. When you find strings you enjoy playing with switching is tough.

string tension could be a factor, if it is strung too tight, then, yeah it can lead to some issues... tho, a hard and heavy string can be brutal on the entire arm IMO... i always go for a poly/synthetic mix... this blend has both durability and a decent amount of feel...
