What exactly am I supposed to post when a player is not playing or is losing first round? I see the losses and I feel sad that they lose and want to support them but I can't comment on the matches because I don't go and watch, when I do go to matches I actually do give commentary on the players who lose.

Not true, with the way the ATP rankings are structured a player can win a tournament and lose spots in the rankings due to a player below them doing better overall over a 12 month period and vice versa a player can lose first round and gain places in the rankings.

If Johnny does not make the final in Alice Springs this week he will lose ranking spots and all the hard will be lost after one really good week in Darwin. Just winning is not enough, in other sports sure you can win and you will almost definitely move up but tennis is different. Defending points is one of the most important things as a professional tennis player because no one wants to fall down the rankings.

Even though these posters on here claim that the pros don't look too much into the rankings that is just not true. I watched an interview at the start of this year with Peter Luczak where he stated he needed to gain around 100 points between then and Roland Garros to assure entry into Wimbledon so he is obviously looking into the rankings and is able to set goals because of that. I think it is healthy to do a rankings analysis but I bitten the bullet and made a seperate thread because I didn't want to be childish and complain about it.

Milkman's results in Darwin and Alice Springs have given him a good platform, points wise, to play in the US for the remainder of the season. Go Johnnie...

John will play Luka Gregorc, who can be a tough player.

Millman came from a set down to win 4-6 6-1 6-4. He was never really troubled on serve, except for one game in the first set in which he was subsequently broken. Good win for him and will likely face Julian Reister in the second round.

Will be a good challenge for John against Reister, it's time for him to step up and start performing better in these challengers. He has had issue with shin splints, so hope they hold up alright for him.

Good start to the US campaign, and that last set score was impressive against Reister.
